as one good thing ends, a bad thing begins. the optimism here is that vice versa is also true. when im having a bad day, i remember that another good day is well and truly on its way.

It may be entropy, the tendency of all things to get more chaotic. That is why human genes don't replicate perfectly, why airplane fuselages give out under stress, why things just fall apart.
