He was not in the Nazi party, but a member of the Hitler Youth, something most German children were part of at the time. Many out of fear more than anything else (especially in the later years 1933 onwards). Many children enjoyed their time in the Hitler Youth and League of German Maidens (for the girls) there they learned what the Nazis felt were essential skills - cooking and sewing for the girls, and plenty exercise for the boys. For many it was the chance to get a nice uniform and parade and take part in games. The Nazis had a more sinister plan and use for these children - they were to be used as the Nazi army for the future - a role which some took very seriously indeed. there has been cases of hitler Youth chldren shooting other Hitler Youth children for poor performances/lack of effort.

You will probably find that the majority of Germans alive who are of similar age to the pope will have Hitler Youth connections.

No.

As a teenager and young man, Pope Benedict XVI was drafted into the Hitler Youth and the Nazi German Army just like every other non-Jewish German male. He was not given a choice.

The Pope is not and never has been a Nazi. He unfortunately was born and grew up in a country ruled by the Nazi party.

Every draftee into the Hitler Youth and the Nazi German Army was not a Nazi.

Thank God that you and I live in a very different world that the Pope did in 1930s and 1940s Germany. Or do we?

With love in Christ.

i will't remember whether Pope Benedict XVI became into interior the Nazi military or interior the Nazi young toddlers ingredient. I do have confidence that the final Pope, Pope John Paul II became into interior the Nazi young toddlers. What does that say relating to the Catholic Church? no longer something. the two Popes have been youthful adult males alive on the time of Adolf Hitler, who compelled youthful adult males, or in line with threat even perhaps youthful adult males and ladies, to connect the Nazi young toddlers, so the two adult males had no selection interior the situation. What does it say approximately YOU which you ask this style of question with easily NO learn interior the situation, which became into splashed all relating to the media as each and every guy grew to grow to be Pope?. no longer something i could decide to show right here. Do your homework till now you splash your lack of awareness, and anti-Catholic bias, right here on solutions. God Bless you.

No, he was never a member of the Nazi party. He was however a member of the Hitler Youth, but this is not surprising as all young people from his generation living in southern Germany at that time would have joined for fear of being ostracised within their own communities.

By law, he was required to join Hitler's Youth at the age of 14. But his parents were anti-Nazi, and he refused to participate or attend any meetings.

The pope did things in his youth that in retrospect are unwise - a bit like following a religion just because your parents did - you (hopefully) learn that it was wrong and you move on....
