Being religious often involves following the dogmatic beliefs set forth by established religions (specific churches). Most of today's religions are based upon strict belief systems created by those who have sought for centuries to control the people. One can be "religious" and not at all Spiritual (churches are full of people who fancy themselves good Christians and yet never act like Christ). Being Spiritual means following ones own guidance in searching for "God," or the Divine; and continuously seeking to improve ones state of Love and understanding. Christ is one of the best examples of a Spiritual being..he sought to be Love and to teach Love..to embody the Divine at all times. Unfortunately, what He taught has been misinterpreted and misrepresented for the last 2,000 years by those who seek to control the masses..why else would they have crucified him if not for fear of what he taught??? But don't worry, this is all changing now! Blessed day to you all! In Love and Light, "Spirittmer"

I consider myself spiritual, with a very strong faith in God (or a superior being). Religion has it's own hypocrisy, and being very structured, each believe differently. I think your relationship with your superior being is very personal. We're here in general to be as kind as we can be, to help others without any expectations. Example; my sister hates it when I give to the homeless (she always says, "they're just going to buy alcohal, which is crazy, we have know idea how they got there) even if it's dog food for their dog which allot of them have, but I always tell her, just do the right thing and let God sort it out. We're all born with a conscience, to know right from wrong, just do your best to always to the right thing, it doesn't matter what other people think, that's between you and your God. Just my opinion.

Religion is typically an all-inclusive term that includes dogma, doctrine, spirituality, mythology, ritual, etc. Spirituality is typically a more specific term that is used to describe the religious experience (visions, ecstatic experiences, peace, etc.). Spirituality can exist apart from religion, and can include morality, ethics, metaphysical speculation, altered states of perception, etc.

One can be spiritual without having religion, but it's impossible to be religious without being spiritual.

Spirit or Life is the possession of every being. Religion is a set doctrine and dogmatic system of pointing toward Spirit. If the teacher has not fully realized the Spirit part of his nature then it will be impossible for him to bring you into your own spirit. Religion and I'm not picking on any specific one, has failed us. Just look at the separation on Y/A R&S. Religion seems to point outside of ourselves yet it was said, "The Kingdom of Heaven is Within."

I think spiritual is being on the lookout for greater truths but not necessarily restricting yourself to one religion. Someone that's spiritual might seek enlightenment, or try to find something meaningful in the world, but not go to any weekly religious service.
I dunno, that's what the word means to me.
