Best get a culinary degree, then you can be a pastry chef. Johnson & Wales, Culinary Institute of America, Le Cordon Bleu (Paris), and so on. Also look at your local school scene for culinary school.

If all you want to do is ice cakes, you can learn on the job at any grocery store bakery/deli or free-standing bakery. But having a degreee from a culinary school is the best way to insure a decent salary over the long-haul.

I am in Culinary School, Sullivan University, Louisville Ky. They have many different programs including baking and pastry arts. Culinary and baking/pastry art are the schools biggest majors. Not only would you get to work with icing cakes but you get to work with pasties and things like dead dough.

I'm not sure of a specific college name, but you'll want to go to a pastry school.
