According to Christian belief, God is not only all powerful, all loving and all knowing, but he also sacrificed his Son Jesus so that our sins may be forgiven.
If God is all of these, why didn't he just do it himself without sending Jesus? Is he trying to impress us or what?

This question keeps coming up . I suppose one more time won't hurt .
God did not sacrifice his son . Jesus did not die for anyone's sins except his own . He was legally executed by the Romans for breaking Roman law , just as anyone else would have been , for the same crime .
Jesus went around shooting off his big yapper that he had powers greater than Tiberous ( Caesar ) . He proved himself wrong . Jesus got himself executed while Tiberous did okay .

because the curse of sin is death and for sin to be forgiven this curse has to be satisfied before Jesus died the Jews were ordered to sacrifice animals. although it doesn't say it exactly it suggests that God sacrificed animals to clothe Adam and eve.
Jesus died to satisfy the curse so that all who believe in him and what he did can be released from the curse and he rose again to conquer death so that they will also rise again and have eternal life.

!. Jesus took upon Himself all our sins in the garden of Gethsemane. The first part of the atoning sacrifice.
2. Jesus then died on the cross in order to rise again - the reason: that we to may conquer death.
3. God allowed Jesus to do this of His own free will as a sacrificial lamb - look at the story of Abraham & Isaac, or the feast of the Passover - Moses was told to get Jewish families to sacrifice a lamb and daub their doors with the blood as a sign of their allegiance to God and not Pharaoh.
4. God has no need to impress us, His children.

Jesus was never crucified according to the Gospel of Barnabas.
The writings of the Gnostics are largely lost, and what remains, seldom read or quoted, but their sect may have formed the foundation for Christianity; They were branded a heresy by the early church fathers, although many prominent early Christains were gnostics. People need to recall that the Bible as it exists today was not finalized until the time of Constantine. There were many books considered for inclusion that were rejected, for any of various reasons. What's more, the existing books have evolved since they were first written, and some may be forgeries.

I've grown up as a christain but I sat in a predominantly Budha country watching the Passion Of Christ & felt disgusted this is and was my religion's beliefs. From that day forward I didn't stop believing in God but I stopped believing in Jesus and believing that God needed to wash our sins away.

"The central Christian belief is that Christ's death has somehow put us right with God and given us a fresh start. Theories as to how it did this are another matter. ... Theories about Christ's death are not Christianity: they are explanations about how it works.
"We are told that Christ was killed for us, that His death has washed out our sins, and that by dying He disabled death itself. That is the formula. That is Christianity.
"The worse you are the more you need (repentance) and the less you can do it. The only person who could do it perfectly would be a perfect person - and he would not need it.
"...supposing God became a man - suppose our human nature which can suffer and die was amalgamated with God's nature in one person - then that person could help us. He could surrender His will, and suffer and die, because He was man; and He could do it perfectly because He was God. You and I can go through this process only if God does it in us; but God can do it only if He becomes man."

God is perfect and He can not be near any sin at all. He knew that we would have to burn in hell because of our sin because" The wages of sin is death" so he knew someone wold have to die and pay ythe price fro everyones sin. The only problem was that no man no matter how noble could live out a sinless life and choose to die for everyone elses mistakes so he sent his son who was 100% man and 100% God to die fro us and defete death.

Jesus wanted to come and redeem us. According to psalm 49:7 no one else could do it. Adam lost us perfection but Jesus got it back so that soon we can live on earth in paradise as was God's original purpose for man.

Choice
You can choose to receive salvation through Jesus, it is not forced upon you.
God did send part of Himself to pay the penalty for sin.
Here is the bottom line:
We all sin
Sin is what separates us from God
Jesus paid the penalty for sin and made a way for us to be reconciled to God
The choice to receive salvation through Jesus is up to you.
Read and study the Bible.

Hi....
THERE IS 'NO' PROOF JESUS EXISTED, THERE IS 'NO' PROOF HE WAS THE SON OF A 'GOD', THERE IS 'NO' PROOF IN THE EXISTENCE OF 'GOD'!!!
All this is just a 'belief', a 'faith', like hundreds of other beliefs and faiths, that have existed since the 'evolution' of our species!
The Jesus 'story' was actually taken from many earlier civilisations and involved sun worship!! ....
TRUTH!!!
