You sound like I did, my husband was raised Catholic, I was baptized Southern Baptist but parents didn't really practice so when I got older I had lots of questions. Now, my children and I go to an Interdenominational Church. We believe in God and in Christ and who treat their fellow human beings as they, themselves, would like to be treated by others are brothers and sisters to us. You should do a Yahoo search on it and look into it. We've been going for the last 3 years and I've learned so much. I've learned about all of the things you've mentioned in your question and so much more. Things I never knew existed in the Bible I've learned and so much more I'm learning. My 6 year old has learned things I'd never dreamed he'd learn at his age, things I know I didn't learn in bible school. It isn't a chore at our house, I know when I used to go with my grandma when I was little, we used to have to get all dressed up, not anymore. We dress nice, but jeans are okay. The Lord isn't going to judge you for the clothes you have on your back. They usually always have an awesome Worship Band before service in the mornings, we go to the 10:30 service and the band gets you moving and people are singing these contemporary songs, it's just an awesome feeling! I hope you find something, I know everyone's opinion is different of God, but there's what we do and where we go.

You are a thinking person! Congratulations! So many people just follow whatever their church teache. You don't "find" a religion that works...you find the answers inside your head...what works for you within the laws of decency, kindnesss, forgiveness, etc. (lessons taught by Jesus). What you are looking for I think is a liberal church that does not force strict beliefs on you. (Congregational). I was a Lutheran, too. Whew, hard work. Almost worse than the stifling Catholic church. Your children should first and foremost be taught your values, which sound right on to me. Extend those by finding a church you feel comfortable in. Stay away from those
churches that make you feel guilty. After all, if you are a Christian, you know that Jesus died for your sins, so that you don't have to get beaten down by someone else about them.

There are books that compare the beliefs of different churches. You could start there. Do some research on the Internet. You could also visit a non-denominational church. Talk with people of different faiths and churches. keep in mind there are different sects of the same religion. Their beliefs differ from each other. Good luck.

Attend various church services....whichever one makes you feel the most comfortable is the one for you so long as the chuch and it's people are loving and non judgemental....your best option may be to go with your husband since it sound like he has already found a church. There's nothing like family time at the same church community and growing your network of loved ones together.

You are going to get answers that say whatever feels right. Whatever. Whatever. What if you told your kids when they needed direction, whatever you want that feels right? As a mother, you would never do that (more than once or twice). Mostly you tell them what to do because you know what is best for them.
Does it not make sense God would do the same for mankind? Would it not make more sense to find and do what He approves rather than what merely "feels right" to us? A study of the Bible will reveal this. Though there are 10,000 all claiming to be Christian, a few simple things will eliminate most of them. The true one must follow the directions in the Bible closely. Those that don't, mark them off.

I would highly recommend a non denominational church that is a bible believing church. Religion is merely man made rules, regulations and rituals on how to worship God. You can be religious AND be a christian but it is not necessary. Non denominational churches are sometimes called "new testament churches" as they concentrate on the teachings of Christ. Also, a Christian is someone who accepts Jesus into their heart and lives according to his teachings. Just because someone is "religious" doesn't automatically make them a Christian. Good luck. I am glad you want to raise your childrern in church. It is a good moral and spiritual base for them. I was raised in church and so were my children. I think it makes a good lasting impact on what kind of adults they turn out to be.

I presume from that you want to be christian not muslim or Jewish so my advice would be try any local churches and speak to the pastor if you are not sure.
I grew up methodist but have switched between many denominations although my faith in God is strong. currently I go to a Congregational church it is the pastor who build the church we have a Lutheran pastor come to our bible studies often. all denominations should mix more we are all following Jesus I hope.

You will find the following present in the Catholic Church ONLY in the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist:
Joh 6:47 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.
Joh 6:48 I am the bread of life.
Joh 6:49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.
Joh 6:50 This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat of it and not die.
Joh 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh."
Joh 6:52 The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"
Joh 6:53 So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you;
Joh 6:54 he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
