I have to agree that one lesson per week is hardly adequate so start working out on your own if you can't find some workout partners. Perhaps some of the other students in your group are also looking to work out more often and if so then you can help each other.

Also the fact that this is the middle of September, you are a white belt and you are starting to get ready now is not a good sign. I recommend that anyone who wants to compete go and watch a tournament first; second they start getting ready for a tournament four to five weeks in advance and work out with me at least three times per week. This way they have an idea of what to expect, ample time to prepare and train for it under the watchful eye of someone that can help ensure that they practice correctly and adequately. Once they have more experience then three-four weeks is usually adequate to train and prepare in.

If this is only a Jiu-jutsu tournament and you are competing against other beginners thats one thing. But if you are going to be competing against more experienced, higher ranking people who may want to win at your expense or it is an MMA type thing with striking, kicking, and punching then I highly recommend that you watch one first before competing. Not all competitors are nice or care to be and I have seen some white belts victimized in the past at the hands of some tougher, more experienced competitors who wanted to win at any costs.

i would just focus on repition on a take down a guard pass a sub and an escape. And just work on those for now. You need to roll more to get your and your sensitivity up

sorry man hate to be harsh but find a new studio or art.. 1 day a week is not ever going to make you get to the point you want to be at if you desire to go to tourneys.
