She knows basic obedience as well as how to play dead, jump rope, skateboard, roll over, shake, wave, play patty-cake, beg, stand up on her hind legs, speak, back up, open and close doors and retrieve things. She also knows how to jump through hoops and pick up her toys. I don't know what else to teach her and the school talent show is coming up!

I forgot to mention earlier that she knows how to bow, play soccer, high-five, and crawl. Sorry 'bout that.

You can find basic agility kits online- they are obstacle courses with hurdles, tunnels, a box the dog must lay down and not move in for a certain number of seconds, poles he must weave through, etc. Agility is a great thing to teach your dog, and the dogs love it!

You could also try frisbee catching (people get their dogs to run up their backs , grab the frisbee, and jump off, catch dozens of frisbees in a row, etc.) or dog/person dance partners. You can find videos of that stuff online if you're interested.

Awww, hasn't she served you well in learning these things. Bless her little hairy heart lol. Our dogs have never "learned tricks". They are just fully paid up members of the family, with equal rights along with their human family members, and they surprisingly have learned a lot of communicational skills that are often amazing in themselves.

Our dogs aren't anyone's "circus act". They are "people" and their individual personalities shine through making them unique, and uniquely endearing. I don't mean to suggest I think there is anything wrong with dogs learning stuff. But I am always concerned about people out there who see another dog do certain things and set themselves the task of teaching their own dog that "trick" and then get pissed off when the dog doesn't learn it. Dogs are just like us... certain ones have certain abilities that certain others don't. A very wonderful dog trainer I listened to one time on a t.v. show said "The way to teach your dog best, is to watch and find out what he seems to already want to do, and then tell him to do it" lol. My girl Paget has been a natural "fetcher" from babyhood. She loooooves you to throw for her, and she's the greatest catcher. So she gets to do what she already wanted to do. Another one of our dogs loves to "Rassle", and she's always up for a game of "hold-down" LOL she wins a lot.

As long as your dog is doing what she does because she is loving it, and not because she is forced to "perform" it's just great. But for everybody else out there I just want to say love your dog no matter what he/she can or cannot do, and no matter whether or not that dog can "perform silly human tricks". Always remember your dog loves YOU unconditionally. The least you can do is return the favor.

Go to your local library or bookstore and get the book Dog Tricks for Dummies.

One good way of stopping unwanted dog behaviours is attending a traning course. You'll learn the causes and some techniques to solve all your problems with your furry friend. A good online course you can follow is: http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=572

Their method is gentle, simple and most importantly effective. I recommend it.
Have a nice day

My daughter has taught her Lab to "high five." He also rolls over and play dead when she pretends to shoot a gun (with her finger) at his head. We have a Collie who is great at soccer, but that wouldn't help on stage. Greyhounds were originally trained to carry plates of food to the table in the palace. That's a good trick if you don't mind slobber in your peas. LOL

She doesn't know how to crawl yet? You gotta teach her that one. It's so cute, and it's fun teaching it 'cause you get to crawl with them until they've got it. My sis's pointer loves doing this trick!

Teach her how to bow. That would be perfect for the end of the show!!! (We taught my friend's dog how to bow by saying the word "bow" everytime she stretched her front legs.)
