My dog was hit by a car about 48 hours ago. He can move his head to a limit. His front paws move. But the back section of his body hasn't shown any movement. I already took him to the vet but they said they didnt think he would get any better and asked if i wanted him euthenized. So i took him home.

My dog had an accident , she is a 200 pound mastiff and she could not bear weight at all on both back legs , xrays showed nothing ,
The vet said to put her down but I brought her home , and we put her on adaquin shots and cortisone ,
We had to make a sling and use 2 people to help her walk , that was last February and she is running and jumping and as good as new , If the vet did an xray and could find nothing wrong , give the dog a little time for any swelling to go down , if it dose not get better , you can always get a doggy cart to help the dog walk as long as it is not in pain

What did the vet say? A dog who was hit by a car needs to be taken to the vet immediately!

y arent u at the vet right now. honestly ur wasting ur time on here. every minute goes by means more of a chance that the dog wont walk again. now if ur dog is never able to walk again there r other solutions. as long as ur dog isnt suffering after he gets patched up it is possible to get a wheelchair for him. so stop wasting ur time on yahoo answers and take ur dog to the vet. there is still hope.

Oh God, PLEASE tell me you've taken this dog to a vet! You just MUST have done!

The dog might have spinal injuries, and probably has by the sounds of it! If you HAVE gone to a vet, why aren't you directing this question at the vet? I mean, how the hell are we supposed to know what's happened to the dog or what the prognosis is?!?!

They say there's no such thing as a stupid question, but this one would be an example of why that's not the case.

What has the vet said?

It really could go either way.

If he does end up paralyzed in the rear, there is still hope. Many dogs live happy lives with the use of "doggie wheelchairs". http://www.k9carts.com/

take the dog to the vet if you haven't. ask the vet questions. if the vet thinks he won't be able to move them ask about the little wheel chairs for dogs. they are like a little cart at the back to help dogs with balence ( like if they are born with no back legs or have to get their legs aputated it adds support and they can move again.)

Jesus H. Christ! I am sick of idiots posting serious medical issues on this forum!

GET YOUR DOG TO THE VET! IT IS SERIOUSLY INJURED!

I can't believe how many post here with unbelieveably serious pet problems where the pet is obviously suffering, in enormous pain or near death and they are typing out some stupid question to a bunch of strangers instead of seeking immediate competent medical help for their animals. It is just plain sadistic to allow an animal to suffer.

Is this dog being cared for at the vets office? If not then you should be arrested for animal cruelty.
