I've tried the puppy pads and nothing and now I need her to try this. Our last hope is to have her outside the majority of the day when we're not here. Help!

This is a dog, not a cat.

the fact that you aren't home all day was a reality before you got a dog.

If you are gone most of the day then you'll have to confine her to a place small enough that you can cover up with newspapers or pads...the old fashioned way. The best idea is to have someone let her out for a walk during lunch. It is much harder to teach a dog to be clean inside once you let her consistently pee/poop inside.

Cats generally cover up their pee/poop which is why litter boxes work for them. They need to pee/poop on something they can they use to cover it up.

Dogs don't have that requirement.

You can try (good luck) putting out some sandy, unscented, clumping litter in a wide container that gives her plenty of choices. Put some of her poo/pee in it and then put it and her in a smaller room where the litter becomes the best choice.

You can try it but I wouldn't go overboard as you can create more problems than you solve. You may have to make a dog run for her until she is old enough to hold it while you are out.

When she's older, ad housetrained, she will be able to wait for someone to come let her out.

I don't recommend puppy pads or litterboxes. You are only teaching your dog its ok to eliminate indoors, and soon you will have a dog that doesn't care whether its on a pad, or in the litterbox. All the dog knows is that its ok to go inside.

Start teaching to go outside. You'll save yourself alot of headache in the long run.

Are you serious???? Don't teach your dog to go in a litterbox, only a cat understands the use of a litterbox because it's in a cats nature to bury its poop. A dog will not make the distinction between the litterbox and the rest of the house and this will cause numerous problems for you in the long run. Housebreak him properly to go outside, eventually he will be able to hold it until you get home, or you can try and you'll find he peed and pooped all over the house.

Your choice.

it is against a dog's nature to pee in the place where they live. dogs natural instincts r to go outside to do their business. so train ur dog to go outside. i guarantee u will get more results than training him to use puppy pads. besides puppy pads r just a training tool they arent a long term solution. so train ur dog to go outside. puppy pads and litter boxes were invented by lazy dog owners so they could show other dog owners that it is ok for them to be lazy honestly if u dont have the time to train ur dog to go outside and dont have the time to get up and let ur dog outside or take it outside then u really dont have time for a dog.
