It's very well possible. Tell them you want a reason why they want to return the dog. Depending on how much $$ you're talking about here, I may be willing to give them half the $$ back & return of the dog!!!

Maybe they do but how would you prove it? Even if you find they have puppies a few months down the line, how would you know? You can contact local breeders in your area and see if they have experienced the same thing or have noticed this couple having litters.
I don't know if this would constitute fraud or how you would prove it without DNA testing. If it happens often enough, maybe you and other breeders can pursue it.
Do you really want them to have your dog now? Sometimes things like this happen. The dog is the most important thing in this situation so take it back and return the money.
You may be suspicious but what if you are wrong? If you can't reasonably prove your allegation, assume the best and move on. You may be able to withhold a portion of the money if you had expenses directly relating to this transaction but it may not even be worth the bother.
I guess you could try small claims court but you still need to produce puppies or witnesses.

Hi
Ok to start where is your contract???
Now any intellegent person would know that if you sold them a male and they have a female the took your male he did his duty and they are going to have pups in 63 to 65 days....
Now here is the Big issue did you sign off AKC papers to them??? Or are they going to sell a litter of Paperless dogs? You have really gotten into quite a mess here and you need to always always have a ironclad contrat before you let any money excahange hands
See what has happened now that you dont have one
Go to the AKC web site and read up on the backyard breeders you have fallen into that category and I am so sorry to say you are in a mess that you are going to have a real hard time getting out of....
Now here is a solution that you need to tell them and You need to stand your Ground do not flinch in anyway!!!!
Today is Sunday Septemeber 16th 2007 Dependant on the date of sale you will Take your Male back but the refund of any monies is dependant on the Fact of if there is a Birth of any pups from Said female now Dont English Bulldogs have to have C-sections? You tell them you want the name of there Vet and you want to be kept updated weekely on the progress of this dog and you will pay them unexpected visits to see the Female and If and when the 65 to 70 days lapses and there is no birth of Pups @ said time you will refund the said Monies but is there is a birth of any pups they owe you a stud fee and that will be determined @ a later date
Stand your Ground as to me it sounds like you where Taken by a scammer
Keep me informed anything I can do to help you I will gladly do
icequeen1019@yahoo.com
Respectfully Yours
Anne

It is definitely a scam, but I would get your dog back no matter what so you can place him in a better home. Return some of the money, but hold back an amount for stud fees. Once you have your dog back, I would report them to your nearest animal shelter and local bulldog associations so they are aware of this couples' unscrupulous behaviour. You may find that they have been reported by other people as well.

if i were u i should have never sold them that dog in the first place. they probably dont know anything about breeding english bulldogs and they probably r just in it for the money. so give them their money back and get the dog back and then give the dog to someone who wants a dog purely for a pet not to be used for breeding

They have the right to return the dog and ask for their money back. If you are a responsible breeder you will take the dog back and refund at least part of the sale price..that's what responsible breeders do..take back ANY dog/puppy they sell at ANY time for ANY reason.

Most reputable breeders have a written statement of the terms and conditions BEFORE they sell the dogs. However, it sounds as if they got what they wanted, but the poor dog didn't.

If you are selling animals, aren't you a breeder, too? Don't breeders usually check out the people they sell to and take their animals back?
Pot calling the kettle black if you ask me.
You could also be responsible and spay/neuter your animals before selling them so they don't add to the horrible overpopulation of animals that are euthanized each year...while you are at it, sterilize your own animals and get out of the breeding business.

tell them they bought the dog so now its their responsibility
if that doesnt work ask if they have any other dogs. they will probally tell the truth thinking you think you'll take him of their hands because of the other animal. then ask what gender. there you go you know if they bred him or not
