Those with experience;
Does it hurt to get done?! (numbing or not)
And apparently it causes problems with the teeth?
*scared*

Yes it hurts getting it done. It will also be swollen for a few days. So I reccommend that you get lots of frozen foods, jello,pudding,soup,etc. But they do carry a large risk of tooth chipping. However, the risk of chipped teeth can be almost totally eliminated by wearing properly sized jewelry.For healing and initial piercing, the tongue jewelry should be 50% longer than the thickness of the tongue (normally this is 3/4"), but once healed it is very important that a shorter bar be installed. Good luck!

I don't have my tongue pierced, but I do have a nose ring, belly ring, and an industrial in my ear. I have friends with tongue rings and they said it doesn't hurt at all, that it hurts worse to bite your tongue. I have heard that the most painful piercing on the face is the industrial, and let me tell you, that was not painful. I've never heard of any place numbing an area about to be pierced before. It can cause problems with the teeth if you play with it too much, it can actually chip your teeth. Dentists apparently are not too fond of them. However, if you are careful I'm sure it will be fine! They have some with plastic balls that are better for your teeth than the metal. Also, expect your tongue to swell for the first couple of days, but not too bad. Happy piercing!! :)

Hell yes it hurts. You're getting a needle shoved through your muscle, you can't eat much for days and if, God forbid, it pusses you'll never want to eat again.

The studs can crack your teeth and chip away enamel, making way for cavities and other things. Nevermind swallowing them.

I took mine out, I hated it. :\

If you're scared, don't do it. It's that simple.

BTW, you misspelled "piercing", which automatically bars you from any self-mutilation of any kind. ;)
