Odd question I know but for one I don't like meat plain so will mix it with other things, and often mix mashed potatoes with other things. I like to do that, mix them together. I like the flavors and can make something not good taste good or better. I get a lot of flack at my boyfriends house about it though my parents do not seem to care, Is it no appropriate?

No, it's not bad among friends and folks who know you...and if you're dining with folks who get offended about how you eat your food, you should find some new friends...a lot of life is spent chowing down - enjoy yourself and eat how you want...

Now does this mean it's OK to flick / toss green beans at your pie hole at a five star restaurant? Of course not! Just use your manners.

This is a unique circumstance. In an informal setting, you do whatever you want with your food. However, if you are at your boyfriend's house, you must be at your best behavior. I personally would not get offended, because I am not a "formal" type hostess. However, I wouldnt mix if I was at a business dinner, or if I was around new people. NEVER give anyone a reason to talk crap about you, though it was REALLY bad etiquette for someone to comment on how YOU eat! Screw them! If that is their only gripe with you, the should be thankful! I am sure they will find another reason to ride you!

It depends how you do it. If you mix all of the item (eg all your peas with all your mashed potato on the plate) then it is bad, however if you place some mashed potato then some peas on your fork it is ok.
Remember how you were told not to play with your food as a kid? It might look like that to your boyfriends family. Personally I don't care as long as the veggies get eaten!

It would be considered poor etiquette to rearrange your plate into a big mash. However, if you take a little bit of each food delicately on your fork, you can achieve your desired mix without offending your hostess or fellow diners.

It might offend a person who worked hard to make a meal. Because you are saying That their food is not good in a nonverbal way. You could take a couple bites of the food plain. Then mix it together.

Do what you want to at home, cut your meat while holding your utensil in a fist position if you want, (why do people do that, everyone needs to learn how to hold a knife and fork)? For your own sake and the sake of your social graces, do not mix food together in public. Mix them in your mouth in small bites, not on your plate. It is childish.

Sounds a little odd, but you should do what makes you happy, who cares what other people think.

This is bad manners. The cook has prepared a meal that is to be tasted as made not baby mush. It's insulting to the cook for you to go an alter the food. It's like covering you plate in salt and pepper before you taste it.

With Indian food we have to mix everything with rice, so we don't have this problem.

It is bad etiquette, though it is equally bad etiquette for your hosts to comment on your habit.
