Mine does this all the time! If I'm at the computer or working on homework and I don't hear him making a mess with his toys I look over and inevitably he's got a hold of something he shouldn't have.

Yes!!! - and when mine were older and were quiet and *offered* to help me or make me a cup of tea when they got in I just knew that I was going to get a 'phone call from the school or a neighbour saying that they had been up to something so I normally looked them in the eyes and asked them if they had something that they needed to tell me because if I found out later from someone else it would be far worse for them! They normally spilled the beans!

Salt shakers are my son's thing. If I'm doing something and I hear him get really quiet I know he's in the kitchen messing with the darn salt. LOL! Oh well. It serves me right for leaving it on the table.

ha sometimes i take advantage of this, if i really just want some quite time ill check on her first of corse but if she is making a harmless mess sometimes ill just sneak away and know that ill have a mess to clean up later. like one time i was cleaning my room and she was quiet so i looked around the corner and she was playing finger paints with her jello on the kitchen table, so i just let her

Yes! One night, my daughter was eating a cookie and I told her that that was the last snack for the night. She went upstairs to her room and I got suspicious because I didn't hear a sound. I went to check in on her...and whaddaya know? On the way up, she took 2 cookies from the jar and started to eat them. She got crumbs and bits of chocolate EVERYWHERE! It was such a mess.

Exactly. When I hear them whispering as they come up the stairs, the flooor squeek as they try to tip toe and then bedroom door close slowly, I know they're up to something! And then I go to see what's going on and when I find them, they look up and me and begin to ask me random questions out of nervousness...like: "Hey Mom! How are you?" or randomly, "Mom, you said Dad's gonna be home at 7, right?" Haha. and I go, "What did you do this time?"

Children are sneaky lol and yes my boys playing quietly and i have to make sure to check on them because they probably are getting into something they shouldn't but they have gotten better with time. They do usually wait until i get into a movie or checking email before they get into stuff.

This is typical. When things are too quiet, always go and find out what is going on. It sounds as if your son is around 2 years old. Good luck.

If our kids get quiet we go check and they are always up to something. Seem's to be murphys law that the only time kids are quiet is when they are sleeping or getting into trouble.
