I recently found out my 17 year old daughter (just turned 17 and still in HS) is seeing a 25 year old man. I feel this is very inappropriate. She can't understand why I would be opposed to her seeing this "nice guy". OK, am I to concerned about nothing? What kind of boundries are acceptable these days?

You are correct. It IS very inappropriate. There is a world of difference between 17 and 25. Stick to your guns. It doesn't matter what other people regard as acceptable boundaries these days. The only rules which are important are those which you set for YOUR family. Your daughter is headed for misery, and she doesn't know it yet (at 17, the world is great- you remember). Please step in and protect her.

It is very unacceptable. You can believe he doesnt love her. He is just using her for sex. Is he military? Sounds like a jetter or wave runner. They have a game in the forces to see how many HS girls they can bang. Don't be surprised to come across photos on the web. It is part of todays culture. I can assure you she is a game or a sick fantasy to him. Some guys like the younger ones. I mean when he was 17 (your daughters age), your daughter was 9 years old. Ask your daughter how she feels about having sex with 9 year olds. He is a sick perverted man and your daughter is either stupid or a slu-t for falling into his perversion. Get her out now before she gets knocked up with a bastard child

oh hell no!!! that is not acceptable at all! hes 25....25! shes only 17! first of all, thats illegal, especially if u dont consent to it and especially if theyre having sex! i highly doubt a 25 yr old man is with a 17yr old bc of "her personality". you need to keep an eye on this relationship. dont do anything crazy, just let her see how it ends up. im a teenager and we usually learn on our own. if my mom or dad tells me something, and i dont listen, i'll learn later why they told me that from experience. she needs to date someone around her age. i would say if shes 17 no higher than 20. and i feel thats even pushing it a little. talk to ur daughter about this. like for real. dont hold back. good luck.

He is wayyyyyyyy too old for her. For one, she's jailbait. He's a grown man, who needs to find someone closer to his age. You could press charges. The age difference between them at that age is HUGE. They have totally different agendas, goals in life. I would have a talk with this "nice guy"....find out what he's doing with her, and why he can't find a woman his age. I have a 17 year old daughter, and there's no way I'd let her date a 25 year old.

Personally, I would say no. I don't know they guy, but a high school student is NOT into the same things that a 25 year old man is, besides sex.
Invite him over and ask him some questions. Your daughter does not know how vulnerable she really is.

I agree. It is inappropriate. Either he's so immature that he can't find someone near his age, or he's up to no good. Probably the latter. He obviously is also avoiding meeting you so that's another alarming note. Invite him to dinner some evening. If he gives an excuse, start restricting your daughter, if that's possible. Ask her father to help out too.

well i know of a few people who have been charged for statutory rape in ridiculious circumstances such as a 17 year old dating an 18 year old. i know when i was 17 i dated older men as well and yes it was innapropriate but at the time i didnt believe so. have you met him? if not you should and go with your instincts! by law it is wrong but morrally it depends.

my friend was married to a guy who is 11 years older.
they met each other at the age of 25 and 36.
and now happily wedded.

there's nothing wrong with the age difference, but be careful if the 17-year-old is still to naive to being in any relation.
Trust her and control her wisely.
if u think the guy is trustworthy, there's nothing wrong with their relation.

it is very inappropriate and if you really have a big problem with it you can always report him and have a judge issue a restraining order. the only other thing you will have to worry about is when she turns 18 and runs of with this guy.
