Yes at the supermarket due to massive price differences. You save a lot of money by using a larger supermarket as they tend to offer the best prices due to larger stock so they get a cheaper buying price thus a cheaper selling price. Also supermarkets have more choice and range than a smaller corner shop, you can buy everything you need from a supermarket.

My parents do the shop but I'd probably go to the supermarket for everything unless I just need a couple of things.

I know people say things are overpriced in local stores but isn't that because the supermarkets can afford to lower their prices which takes custom from the local stores, so they HAVE to raise the price to make a profit or something. I think people have come to except low prices these days so anything above that seems pricey. I'd rather pay more for better quality than buy cheap food which sucks.

Corner shop? What corner shop? The last remaining local non-chain shop closed this summer, and the other local one closed something like twenty years ago. Every other shop in my vicinity belongs to the same chain (supermarkets and smaller grocery shops alike).

Just returned from a holiday on a boat on the Norfolk Broads. The nature of the holiday necessitates the use of local shops, and I love using them. Unfortunately my bank balance doesn't, as everything was at least a third, but generally half as much again. Restrict the growth of supermarkets, allowing the smaller shops to survive & thrive by higher sales volume, keeping their costs down, although I fear it's way too late for that!

I absolutely hate to say it, because I'm all for mom and pop places. But I shop at Safeway or Albertsons supermarkets. I don't have a close corner shop anyway. If there was one with reasonable prices, I'd be a very loyal customer.

I do shop at my local supermarket as i couldn't afford the prices the corner shop charges .Plus food is much fresher at my supermarket and the premises are cleaner .Two of my local shops were closed down for selling inferior goods.

Personally, I like to shop at my local butcher, greengrocers, don't get me wrong, I love supermarkets, but really when meat and veg is concerned you are better to shop locally... so I get stuff from the supermarkets that aren't considered 'fresh' foods, your local butcher gets his meat from just down the road, the same with greengrocers, 'use them or loose them' I always look to see where the source is, the closer, the better. But I like to spend an hour or so going round the supermarket, I get our wine, mixers, bottled water and stuff like that from the supermarket, it's cheaper...There is room for all.. Use your local shops!!

Cheaper. That is the only reason. I love the corner shop and we should restrict large supermarkets to give them a chance.

My corner shop is 10 minutes walk away.
My nearest supermarket is 10 minutes walk away, using a footpath.
It depends wether I am feeling lazy or not, as to drive would be quicker to my local shop.
I don't mind the local place though, as he sells things that the Asda don't, such as COLD beers, blunt wraps for home 'cough' cigars, and penny sweets.
