ok, dont listen to anyone who says 25 minutes. Fast people can run 1 mile in 5 minutes, but that's one mile. You dont just multiply that by 5, because obviously the longer you run, the slower you go. Run at a 9 min pace, if possible, since it's not on a flat track, rather cross-country, with hills. It should take you 45-50 minutes. Good luck and just do your best!

I ran division 3 cross country in college. You may be shocked to hear that div3 xc is a 5 mile (8k) race.
sub 25 minutes is getting into the all american range.
sub 30 minutes is what the top 7 guys on most teams run
sub 35 minutes is what the slow guys on the team ran
most people in average shape should be around the 40-50 minute mark imo. if youre over 50 minutes (a 10 minute mile) you could use some serious conditioning.
(these times are for men, add 10-20% for females)

I'm on the cross country team at my high school and it usually takes me about 35-40 minutes to run 5 miles. We're only halfway into the season and it takes most of the guys about 30-35. That's our team's stats. If you're just starting out on running, though, you probably shouldn't try to go out and start with 5 miles. Run for two, see how you feel, and try more next time. If you over do it when you're out of shape, you'll get injured. Good luck.

Your long runs could be 10-12 miles at a reasonable, common %.. I run/jog 3-4 miles 4 circumstances a week and the different week I put in a 6 r 7 mile run/jog. yet i'm additionally a Boxer and working extra beneficial than 5 miles for me isn't good for my knees.

being compleatly honest, a lot of these people have no idea what they are talking about. some of the times they have said put you on world record pace. average fitness, to start , you should be able to run 5 miles in about 40-43 minutes, maybe 45 depending on how much in shape you actully are. if u do this for a while, you will notice that you get faster as time goes on, but thats a good start.

Well, in high school boys are supposed to be able to run 1 mile in 9 minutes. Sooo I guess 5 miles should be 45 minutes to an hour, depending on your pace.
