It would seem to me that your question is somewhat like arm-chair generaling.
The numbers don't tell anything about the situation on the ground. Just about any military show will prove that one time and again.
g-day!

Dont compare our army with that of Israel.Check out abt Operation Entebbe,Beirut operation,Tracking Adolf Eichmann,
Killing of members of Black September.Osirak destruction all these are highly regarded Operations by the Israel commandos. We dont have that much exploits to talk abt.this makes Isreali comandoes are highly respected in International level.Israelis are the best in terms of there strength, will power, cunningness better even than American commandos.
We Indians are of a wait and watch attitude if we had the attitude of Israelis we would have driven Pakistanis to the sea long ago.May be the leadership is to blame.Politicians taking the pie frm every deal the army does.Even if that mean providing the soldiers with sub standard weapons.
Indian leaders talk abt patriotism but they dont show even a small amount.
i personally think why these people are risking there lives for the country where the ministers dont give a damn abt them.
Our intelligence n/w is bad compared with Mossad of Isreal.
The intelligence have warned the army of Kargil intrusion but they ignored it.When they started noticing it it was too late.
Terrorists get a lot of support frm people inside India. They support them relegiosly.I am not blaming any community but that is the fact.

Here is first 2 paragraphs:
The army numbers about one million personnel and fields 34 divisions. Designed primarily to defend the country's frontiers, the army has become heavily committed to internal security duties in Kashmir and the Northeast.
In 2002 the Indian Army had 980,000 active troops, along with an Army Reserve consisting of: 300,000 first line troops (those within five years of full time service), and another 500,000 second line troops (subject to recall to service until 50 years of age). The Territorial Army numbered 40,000 first line troops (and 160,000 second line troops). In 1994 the army had approximately 940,000 men and women on active duty, and another 36,000 in the Territorial Army. As of 1998 the Army had a sanctioned troop strength of 1,045,000, but there was a shortage of about 59,000 troops.

You are in error.
The USA First World War did not defeat Iraq.
It helped defeat Germany, Austria, and Turkey
with American life loss exceeding ten in number.
Israel has 100 French-made atom bombs with
both delivery systems and will to utilize them in
any of the surrounding lands or far elsewhere.
Atomic fallout carried by winds will kill millions.
WW3 is not healthy prescription for our planet.

Our Army needs special training to combat terrorism. For this, we should have separate specially trained commando force to tackle the menace of terrorism. These units have no other avocation except commitment to wipe out terrorism from India. Then our country will become powerful otherwise our army units is prone to more causalities.

To take over an enemy held position you do actually require a large number of men. Dug in troops usually are hard to evict since they lie in cover while you attack in the open. the terrorists in the temple probably had set explosives making clearing buildings a slow and very dangerous exercise.

us army defeated iraq during first world war???
Us army with its high tech equipment has lost more than a thousand soldiers against poorly equipped mujahideen.
does this mean that any tom di ck and harry can take on US?
Military strength is all about projection of power and
ability to run its operations without bound by politicians.
Give the Indian Military a free run and there would be no
"training camps" or "terrorist threats" in our neighborhood.

we cant say as main energ we waste fighting with the terrorists and secondly we dont know the power of the other countries like china and pakistan still. As what ever they may be but our main enemy now is pakistan and when we will have war with him he will not be alone as our old foe china will definitely be there to support him so they will become more powerfull. As other countries are now slightly jealous of india as it is a growing power in asia so no body will like inida to be ahead of them and hence better if war does not take place at all.
