goto the start menu, click run and type "msconfig" and press ok
choose the option "Selective Startup" and uncheck the box that says "Load Startup Items"
click okay and restart the computer, it should load windows noticeably faster.

Would you provide more infomation ?
What kind of HW do you have ? Are you using Mac or PC ?
And what type of CPU and motherboard ? How much ram do you have ?
What kind of OS are you using ? And what revision sp do you have installed ?
Is you computer only has boot up slowness problem or in general everything becomes slow.
If the computer is just slow in booting up:
For one, if you are using xp, there is a program that you can download on the web to track what is going on. It is called the bootvis. It originally from Microsoft. It is a very useful tool and it will help where is the problem getting delay. Then you work from that point onward.
Also run the task manager to see what kind of programs is running. Are there so many programs running that eats up all the resources.
Also run the msconfig to see what programs are loaded during the booting. Try to eliminate some of them by deselecting them.
If the computer is slow in everything running, then do a virus and spyware check. Also run the task manager to see what kind of programs is running. Are there so many programs running that eats up all the resources. Eliminate some of them.
Check your HD to see if it is getting full, if it is over 80 % full, then think about upgrades to bigger drives or faster HW.
There are many possible things can make your computer run slow. Need to know more information.
Good luck!

One of your startup programs is probably misbehaving. Click Start > Run > type msconfig in the box > Startup tab > uncheck 1 or 2 programs at a time and reboot. Check the startup time to know which program you deselected was causing the problem. You can then leave it shut off or simply uninstall it if you no longer use it.

Too many programs and applications are loading during bootup. Do this. Start, Programs, accessories. Find the "Run" command. Type "MSCONFIG". Select the "Startup" tab and uncheck the programs you don't need at startup.

A fairly convenient alternative to msconfig is Mike Lin's startup control panel.

All you realy need to start up is your antivirus software. Everything else can wait.
