No one really knows. Jewish tradition holds that Moses wrote it - however there are alot of theories. Along with it's author, the date which it was written is also widely debated.
One thing we know is that God ultimately wrote the book, because it is part of the Holy Canon. This is shown by New Testament quotes from the book of Job by the Apostle Paul (e.g. Rom 11:35 cf. Job 41:11).

Moses:
When Job died (1516 BC) Moses was fifty-five, and had been in MIDIAN fifteen years (twenty-five years before the Exodus).
This would account for Job being a worshipper of the God of ABRAHAM, and explains how Moses could have been the author of the book, and perhaps an eye- and ear-witness of the events it records in Midian. If so, the time has come (as Dr. Stier foretold and hoped*) when this book would be regarded as “the Porch of the Sanctuary”; and when this “fundamental wisdom of original revelation will cease to be ascribed, as it now is by some of the best, to a later poet in Israel. “

I love the book of Job.
In the book of Genesis at 50:26; Joseph after being governor of Egypt from age 30 for 80 years, died 712 years after the flood.
Job was born 637 years after the flood and died 777 years after the flood.
Moses was born 777 years after the flood, so that 430 years after Abraham got the Promised Land covenant he was age 80 Exo.7:7; 12:40,41; Gal.3:16-18; to give 603,550 heirs of Abrahams family the law of the land and the laws of God from Exodus. Exodus at 857 years after the flood to 897 at Deut.34:7; Moses had compiled Genesis and Job, then wrote four bible books. At 898 years after flood, Josh.5:6,10,14; 14th day of New Year the 40 years ended.
Job wrote the book of Job or had it done.
Job 2:1-6;
Satan with the sons of God at about 714 after the flood, so Job knew about his redeemer Job 19:25,26; 33:4,22; 34:14,15; and was told about the ages old earth being prepared ages Gen.1:3-25; while all existed before that Gen.1:1,2; even angels Job 38:4-7,30-32; Angels are called morning stars and sons of God. Lucifer means day star Isa.14:12-14; Rev.22:16; Jesus is called the bright and morning star.
Job is very interesting and in Rev.12:7-12; It is evident that Satan is cast out of heaven in the end times when he has a short time and he is cast down many years after the days of Job and many years after Jesus in Rome world Empire where at age 30 he faced Satan Matt.4:1-11; Satan at Eze.28:13-15; was the cherub angel anointed over Eden, he has been a powerful force to reckon with but he has a time limit to Rev.20:1-6,12,13; and no Satan for 1000 years. Rev.20:7-10; Then no more Satan.

Which part of it? Job's conversation with God seems like a later addition to the story. However the Story of Job appears to be the oldest part of the Bible and likely was composed shortly after King Hezekiah made monotheism the official State Religion of Judea.

Magnificent piece of literature. The book of Job has got to be one of the best books in the Bible. How God took all of Job`s earthly possessions to test his faith was just beautiful.
However, I`m an Atheist so this book and all other stories in the bible are just that stories. But damn, the bible does have some great stories.

There are several theories concerning the authorship of Job. The oldest tradition is that Moses wrote Job, but there are others that believe Job wrote his own account first (Moses wasn't present), others believe that it was Elihu.

..... Moses... by the Spirit of GOD !
(2Peter 1:20-21) knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture came into being of its own private interpretation.
(2Pe 1:21) For prophecy was not borne at any time by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke being borne along by the Holy Spirit.
Thanks, RR

It is considered the oldest Book of the Bible and I will go out on a limb and say that Job wrote it.

my proffesers have taught that, while its not completely certain, the most evidence points to Moses...i think the reason no one is sure is that it was written hundreds of years after the events transpired.
