I am 20 years old and 70lbs overweight. I was a normal weight until I was put on a certian anti-depressant. During the time I was on the meds, I gained 70lbs! I've been off all meds for about 2 years now, but I am having the worst time losing this weight!

I recently got a big scare when I found out my aunt has type 2 diabetes from being overweight! I've really been cracking down on myself since friday.

I am guilty of not exercising during the week. I am a full time college student and I work full time at a childcare center. Most days I am out of the house from 6:30am-10pm!! The other days I go to work and I am lucky if I can get my homework done before 9pm.

I've been keeping a food journal since Friday. Friday and Yesterday I wrote down EVERYTHING i ate, and the #of calories in each food. On Friday I took my siblings for a 20 minute walk after I got out of work, and I consumed 1,530 calories.

Yesterday I consumed 1,399 calories.

(more details coming)

So as I said, yesterday I consumed 1,399 calories - which is less than Friday.

Most of the calories were from fruits and vegetables. My goal with calories is to eat a little bit less than I did the day before. Even if its only 20 calories less.

Question? When should I start maintaining how many calories I eat. I was thinking that when I get down to only 1,200 calories that I'll try to maintain somewhere between 1,200-1,300 calories per day. Is that healthy?

ALSO, Exercise. I walked 20 minutes on Friday. Saturday I did not exercise much - I was active as yesterday was 'cleaning day' in my house (as is every saturday - we do extensive cleaning - heavy dusting, window washing etc...)

Today I arranged a walk with my family. It started off as just me & my siblings (ages 6,7,&8) and turned into mom, aunt, grandma as well. We are going on a 4 mile walk.

I plan to walk 4 miles every sunday, and throughout the week walk as many 20-30 minute walks as I can (at least 3 times)

1200 sounds like way too few calories. I would consult with your doctor to put you in touch with a nutritionist and they can give you expert advice. The walking sounds great. If you could do two 20 minute walks a day, you'd probably be well on your way! The final component to weight loss is building up some muscle. They say lifting weights as often as twice a week and make a remarkable difference.

It sounds like you're on the right track! 1200-1300 cal/day is a good limit. Anything under 1000 cal/day and your body will go into starvation mode; you wouldn't be giving it enough to function on. Excercise is a must. I might also suggest you watch your carbohydrates. That is what has helped me in the past. Also important is making sure you drink plenty of water (fluids); at least 10-8 oz glasses of water a day. Good luck!!

The best way to loose weight and keep it off is with a total body cleanse product that provides nutrients. The body retains fat and fluids to buffer itself against toxins. Get rid of the toxins and the excess fat and fluid comes off. This can be done quite rapidly if you choose the right product. This weight loss will decrease you risk of diabetes. Also, beware of "Diet" food. Diet food has artificial sweetners in it that can cause cancer AND diabetes!
