I am a Christian and without my faith there is no life. I do not understand how anyone can live without faith it must be so lonely and bleak for them so alone. We on the other hand have Christ with us always in times of trouble and in times of joy He is there to share the joy or carry the burden.

My faith is important because I am saved by grace through faith. It is important because I can trust what God says in the Bible about how to make decisions in my life even when human reason and the world tell me that my circumstances should be resolved in a way that on the surface seems to make more sense. My faith is important to me because I have the eternal hope of glory waiting for me at the end of this life so that no matter what I am going through I know that one day I will be in the presence of God where there is fullness of joy and at whose right hand are pleasures forever more.

Please define 'faith'?

If you mean the belief in things/people/beings without rational explanations or evidence, then I have no 'faith' but have to struggle with a world that has many people who base their actions and politics on such faith(s).

This would not be a problem except that it is akin to having a discussion with someone with the fingers in their ears shouting 'LA LA LA'.

No matter how you argue on issues of religious based terrorism, indoctrination, holy war, 'faith' based education (a form of child abuse - teaching children that ideas without evidence are fact) - if people can have their position that 'God tells me to do it' supported, how can you have a reasoned argument?

It amazes me every day that so many people believe in this nonsense! Does it not strike any of you theists out there that it is a bit odd that there are dozens of religions all proclaiming themselves to be the right one?

Its been said many time before - but when you can explain why you do not believe in everyone elses Gods - then you will understand why I do not believe in yours.

Please folks - really sit down and think about it - think about what it would really mean to have a God(s) - really try to rationally approach the concept?

And if then you still believe, I beg of you to try and adopt the concpet that NO religion should be allowed to influence a democracy - if you dont then you have a Theocracy - and you get to join that enlightened bunch of nations.....

I have faith in my god, because in my religion (HINDU), religion is very important, we wake up have a bath and start out spirtual duties, from dawn to dusk we adapt to our religious duties such as no lies , no trouble making no stealing and praying at such houirs of the day and visiting the mandir on several days of the week.

that makes me feel religious and hence increases my faith in god

Why is air important to me? I am a Baha'i. Baha'u'lllah's teachings are like the air I breathe, like the never-disappointing-lover that we all seek. To understand what I am, what my purpose is, to have the tools with which to transform myself and society, to be part of a world community that is transforming the face of the earth, to understand history and how all the world's great religions and civilizations connect, to know that all humanity is one gives me such strength, such happiness, such unassailable confidence that words fail to express my utter astonishment, joy, and gratitude.

Faith is not important to me. Unfortunately because of believers, faith does have a negative impact on my life. There are way more people who choose to allow their lives to be controlled by faith rather than reality and because of that we have a total idiot running the government.

Where does it say he will love and forgive you unconditionally, and of course a religious faith is not important.
