Fact. The vast majority of people take on the religion of their parents. (i.e. a child born in a baptist house will most likely grow up to be a baptist, a child born in a muslim household will most likely grow up to be a muslim etc etc)
If you did this, do you think it is a huge coincidence that of all the thousands of religions and sects that exist or have existed throughout history that are all wrong, you just happen to have been born in the only one that is right?
(If you are not the religion of your parents then don't bother answering please as this question is not for you)

to EyelovesJesus; the reason I only asked people who are the same religion as their parents is that it implies they have probably not really tried to find out the truth and just accepted whatever their parents and peer group told them.
People can believe whatever they want, but to believe in a god just because your parents told you to is crazy.
To come to a belief through researching all faiths and deciding which is the right one for you is far more logical. (which is what I'm sure you did :D )

Martin S: Why did you think i wanted to see pages of your pointless proselytising.
your parents aren;t the same religion as you so no point answering at all.
Also, I am not claiming that all religions are wrong, just that if you only beleive the religion of your parents because they told you to then the chances of that belief being wrong is very high. Read the question again.

What your parents and you think are right might be wrong. That's why every individual should read and study theirs and others religion and draw their own conclusion on who's right and who's wrong. Or like myself discover your own personal belief that may make you the only one in the world who now believes that way. Which I now believe I am right and the rest of the world is wrong.

My father was a fallen away Jew and my mother was a fallen away Catholic and I didn't become a Christian till I was in my 40's. I see the point that you are making, that people are raised to believe a certain way and so they have a built in predisposition to think that what they believe is correct while what other people believe is wrong.
But just because there are a variety of religious beliefs doesn't mean that they are all wrong. It only means that if one is correct then all other religions are incorrect in what they teach.
As a Christian my faith is built upon the divine revelation of God to mankind through his prophets and through his Son Jesus. The evidence to support the Christian faith is compelling, especially when compared to that offered by other religions.
Here are just 2 links that offer proof about the resurrection of Christ from the dead and the divine inspiration of the Bible.

Testimony of the Evangelists by Simon Greenleaf (1783-1853)
Greenleaf, one of the principle founders of the Harvard Law School, originally set out to disprove the biblical testimony concerning the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He was certain that a careful examination of the internal witness of the Gospels would dispel all the myths at the heart of Christianity. But this legal scholar came to the conclusion that the witnesses were reliable, and that the resurrection did in fact happen.

I was once teaching a goup of high school youth
Once I asked the class why are you Muslim and about 99% of the class said because our parents are.
I told them- Well then Islam is no the right religion. Because in Islam you are told to think and ask questions and achieve certainty not just rely on blind faith.
Man you can't beleive how some upset parents reacted.

Yeah, I did that, I was the religion of my parents. Then I did the whole "I've seen what religion can do" thing and went Atheist. That was then however. Now I'm back to being a Christian, and my parents had nothing to do with it.
