I haven't had the privilege of meeting or speaking to an anointed brother or sister, so I was just wondering if there are any on here? Maybe it's a small chance on Y/As, but if you do know of any in your congregation maybe you could give us a story? Like I said it's probably a small chance but at least someone else may know one.

I don't mind if you prefer to email me for more privacy. I also know that an anointed one wouldn't want to draw attention to oneself, but it is just a question from me.

Hi Cathy, I wouldn't put it like that. JWs (true ones) don't consider any "position" as higher than the next JW. They do however, consider it a privilege. An anointed one is one who is "anointed" with holy spirit and has the heavenly hope. JWs believe that the bible teaches about 2 separate groups; i.e. there's a great crowd who have an earthly paradise hope, and the anointed little flock who have the heavenly hope. If you read Revelation, it describes them there. Basically, anyone who works along with the little flock and is righteous in Gods eyes has a paradise hope.
Many people think that JWs believe that this earthly hope is just limited to JWs but this is not true. Many early Christians weren't called JWs, and also there are going to be people who didn't get the chance to "know God". God/Jesus is the judge and they can read hearts.
To an outsider they may think that anointed ones are higher up than the "great crowd", but this is not the way the anointed feel.

The anointed are the ones with the heavenly calling. The ones I knew were elderly brothers and sisters. There was nothing special about them. They just happened to have a different destiny than the rest of us who look forward to life everlasting on a paradise earth.

I'm not one but have met, I believe, 2 in my 12 years of being one of Jehovah's Witnesses. You are very right. They don't brag or consider themselves higher than anyone else. They don't expect anyone to kiss their ring or bow down to them. The point is that they don't bring attention to themselves. No need to, they won't be going around healing the sick.

Good question.

What's an "anointed JW?" Is it an especially high ranking JW?
