Given that nearly every organised religion has a holy book of some kind, how do you know that it is your book which contains divine truth, and not any of the others? What makes yours special?

Internal consistency isn't much of a reason to proclaim a book as the Word of God, and no fulfilled prophecy can stand up to critical examination.

Granny Annie: Out of interest, what things in particular made you choose the Christian Bible over other books?

Can someone please give me an example of this scientific information in their holy book? And it's interesting how followers of more than one book make the same claim.

We consider it the inspired word of God.

It has several authors, inspired by God on what to write, over a few 1000 years, and independantly of one another. In other words, each did not know whay the others were writing.
They all tell the same story

Besides, this book has been around, with things that it foretells of prophicied coming true, for 2000 plus years.....unchanged.....except for different translations

AND, our leader died and returned from death. No other religion even makes that claim

The others you speak of haven't been here long, their "leader" died. They do not foretell of things to come

Since modern science can prove that the first five books of the Bible, Torah and The Dead Sea Scrolls contain enough advanced scientific knowledge to fill a public library I would say that these books will prove themselves to be the only holy books that contain the true words of their God. Which is the God Yahweh.

By research. You look at what the Quran says about the history of religion, science, the End of days etc., then you look at what the Bible says. See which one makes sense. If you find an error, ask the people belonging to that religion for an explanation. If they cannot provide one, or lose their temper, or keep repeating things like 'Jesus loves you' then you know.

What makes mine special is that there are no mistakes, no alterations since it was revealed, and the fact that it's more scientifically accurate than any other religious book I've read, and does not require updating after the things such as the Big Bang are discovered. Other relgious folk either deny the Big Bang (for which there is enormous evidence) altogether, or just accept the two conflicting ideas and refuse to question their own faith.

In response to another answerer, NO concessions should be made regarding the extent of scientific knowledge that man held when it comes to holy books that are said to be the word of GOD. If God indeed wrote the book, He knows everything about science, He created it after all! All holy books from God should therefore be scientifically accurate right from the time of revelation, unless they are in fact the work of man. For example, space dust, something discovered pretty recently, is mentioned in the Quran, as is the Big Bang, the heliocentric model of the solar system, the earth being an ellipsoid and everything swimming along in its orbit. The Bible, however, claims that God placed us in the centre of the universe, and people who contradicted this fact based on their own scientific research, were killed by the church. Sorry, but this very fact goes to show how very inaccurate the Bible is when it comes to science.

Most all published bibles are near to the same, it take about 40 years study to be able to began to understand and it is good to study several bibles since we are 396 years after the KJV Bible published 1611CE, we have them.

If this is not the truth about the history of mankind from Genesis to the time involved to Revelations [ 66 books is enough and its promise for the salvation of mankind ], then we have no history and no truth, and we must agree that man is not food for man or food for animals, so as Eccl.3:19-21; Why does man die like animals? and if the bible does not tell us, then we have no way of knowing, but one thing for sure the spirit of life Eccl.12:7; from God that is said not to dwell in the imperfections of man in sin Gen.6:3; Psm.90:10; but a short time, sounds right, and the fact that the offsprings of Adam are promised the perfection that the spirit of God can dwell in for them to have eternal life by Christ Jesus John 3:16; 17:3; sure sounds right.

Isa.42:5; 45:18; and all said about it and the new heavens and the new earth to come sound rights [ all LOST is SAVED ], 2Pet.3:3-8,13; Rev.21:1-5;

Two things, man dies like animals without anything else, or 1Cor.15:22-28;
As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. Psm.104:29,30;
Eze.37:12-14 [ these that get the law of the land and the laws of God passed
down from Moses made alive as it say to dwell in their own land ]; or stay dead as it does not say is the case.

I look at the holy books of the major world religions as different chapters in one book, the spiritual teachings for humanity progressively revealed through history. In each age, about every 500 to 1000 years, the eternal spiritual teachings are renewed and expanded, while the social teachings change to drive forward an ever-advancing civilization.

The question seems to be important in religions and spirituality. Although I do not want to come on any religion what these say but I found and read such holy books in India where such books have cited with examples that truth is the best religion among all religions. I do agree from such truth religion after reading the books rather than religions which have deficiencies in some sense from my own point of views. Regarding Devinne truth is only ; those who have taken birth would have to die. Regarding scientific truth you should be known that according to the history of science(Physics),science could not predict about death and hence wrote that death would occur at a particular place & time. Accordingly, science is not truth but it is a invention of human brain or mind which makes or solves our human problems to carry on our life comfortable. For more details: see http://www.datorannonser.se/annons.php?1322681 and software,p.4,http://www.yelloasia.com,India & Singapore etc. In conclusion, death is only universal truth and thus we have to carry our duty of work with honesty keeping in mind fundamental truth of death on our universe and to accept the best religion of truth among all religions.

actual believers won't be in a position to be enthusiasts on an analogous time. it may be an oxymoron. And a holy e book can merely be holy if it would not contradict our ethical experience, for a fashion can a holy e book that's meant to lead us to God and existence of distinctive function would not look to make certain eye to eye with God's given ethical experience? it may merely be yet another oxymoron. God knows of superb. Peace and Love.

The self-authenticating, God -breathed Word, the Holy Bible, is sufficient for faith and practice. Fulfilled prophecy, internal consistency, refusal to hide wickedness "under the carpet," are just a sampling of the many evidences that demand a verdict.

all holy books contain truth, because all humans contain truth, and such books, ancient or modern, should be treated as doorways into a personal relationship with a higher power, instead of a bunch of locked doors to deep thinking and asking questions
