I own an AK-47, an AR-15, a shotgun, and a .40 S&W; I am for smaller government and less taxes; I like Ted Nugent... Please help me, christian fundamentalists, because I am confused. Since you guys are experts on Biology, Astronomy, Physics, and Genetics, I figured you had the inside loop on socio-political knowledge as well. Have I been voting wrong all this time? Should I get rid of "The Federalsit" and replace it with a biography of Che?

Deep Jedi: I would say that owning a weapon would make me a collector, (and also a former armed security worker) vice defensive and reactionary, but hey, that's cool man. I also collect swords, books, and telescopes. Oh, and Star Wars garbage. Please, continue with your Freudian analysis now! I'm loving it...

I'd say you sound more like a Libertarian, except that I don't know enough about guns to know what those are.

One of the serious problems we have in this country (USA) is that everyone seems to assume there can never be more than two "major" parties. Now, how do you suppose those two parties got where they are? The current Republican party, for example, was basically brought into power on the strength of Abraham Lincoln's personal popularity. Current Democrats cannot seem to exorcise the ghost of FDR and his New Deal. So we need to look past this linear left/right BS to move onto a grid. And at the top (OK, I'm biased) of that grid is the Libertarian party. We agree with the Democrats pretty much on social issues, and the Republicans pretty much on economic issues. Small government, an emphasis on the individual rather than big complex structures, and a basic "ain't nobody's business" attitude toward sex, drugs and rock 'n roll.

Impressive array of weaponry for an average Joe. Do you have a concealed license for that forty? I would guess not. Second Amendment all the way. Sure. I know you, or men and women like you. There is a lot of frustration and I hear you. Oh man, has this nation gone far away from its political roots! It is enough to make a grown man really angry. I used to be there too. Sure I can shoot a plate at 75 yards with my two inch barrel, hammerless, double action only, .357 about two or three times out of seven, and come darn close on the rest. Sure I can shut down the central nervous system of a perp quickly when attacked. Never done it but the training is there. I know the pure aggression toward evil doers lying dormant in my soul, ready to explode at a moments notice. Then Jesus entered and changed everything. I saw clearly that I was very, very guilty in God's presence. I needed somehow to be forgiven and Jesus forgave me. Then I realized with such a weight of guilt forgiven, how I did not have the right to hold a grudge against anyone. One of Jesus' apostles was a Jewish zealot, and they are just as rabid as the most aggressive patriot today. Yet Jesus showed him a better way, a different kind of warfare. A warfare that really mattered. You don't have to like church or anything religious. But Jesus is not like that. Check him out. Its a better way.

You're arrogant and inconsiderate of the feelings of those of your fellows for whom religion is a genuine source of comfort and inspiration. You are seeking to posit yourself as an intellectual with answers more certain than those of the religious, but the tone of your question belies your confidence; you're fearful and confused.
Not believing that the bible is the infallible word of God has no bearing on your political beliefs so asking such a question serves you make you seem less clever than you think you are! You speak of socio-political knowledge yet your words imply significant ignorance of the subject. Owning three instruments of death posits you as defensive and reactionary as one can be, while your desire to pay less tax demonstrates that you're selfish, anti-socialist, greedy, and capitalistic.
Have you been voting wrongly? Well, presuming you think yourself a good person (as the majority of even the worse members of society do), I'm sure you think you've been voting as all right-thinking people do. Yet what you *think* of your own actions, and their effect, is not necessarily an accurate reflection of what is happening. I would suggest your voting actually amounts to nothing better than the vote of a chimpanzee; your political ignorance is such that you might just as well let a chimp make your choice for you. This is not to mention that in the American system, the candidates on offer may be little better than chimps themselves.
