It gives birth to the problem of high born and low born, because only high born are the one who can touch their holy books.

if someone wants to find flaws will find flaws no matter what. so the reason you gave is pointless.
now let me come back to the first question of yours my friend. with all due respect, why is that the people of other religions ask such things when they haven't made an effort to know and realise what hindus do ? who told you that hindus are afraid or reluctant to let others read their holy books? Bhagavad gita has been published in many languages, people all over the world read it, vedas and upanishads are also translated, the translation can be even found on the net! have you read them?
the fact is my dear, reading and understanding are two different things, without the latter the former has no value. Not many people understand vedas and upanishads.even if they are translated in english or so. then they make fun of it.
if you want to read them, you will read them anyhow, and Hindus will never stop you.

Most of the Hindu scriptures--which date back to to before 800 BCE (the earliest Upanishad dated to 800 BCE, the Rig Veda is earlier) have been translated into English and published. I've probably read more than most Hindus have . . . and I haven't met a Hindu who was "afraid" of someone reading Hindu scriptures. In India, there are places where Hindus keep off limits to non Hindus and foreigners. It has more to do with elitism and protection of their culture (and age-old ideas about purity and pollution) than about fear.
There are flaws and truths in all belief systems--eastern and western. The value is in the eye of the beholder. One also needs to have appropriate cultural and educational background to understand the philosophical and religious and spiritual values of other cultures. Most persons have a kneejerk response based in ignorance, which is a cause for the strife in the world.

NO My son it is not the reason. How many muslims have read our holy books??? Only a few. You muslims always criticise our religion even without reading our books. We can't stop that. So even if you read our holy books or don't, it will not stop you from criticising Hinduism.
You abrahamic lot even criticise each other's religions. The bible and the Koran are so similar yet despite that you muslims and christians have been slaughtering each other like animals for god knows how many centuries. Jews, Muslims and Christians believe in the same god yet look how much christians and Muslims hate Jews.
YOU PEOPLE ARE ALL HYPOCRITES!!!!

We all share the Same planet. We all drink and breath in the same beautiful green planet.
Though electricity and laws of physics and so many discoveries made by the great scientist of the world may be living in a particular part even belong to a sect , all the world still uses their inventions and discoveries.
Though we are different but we are the same, We have same feelings. We all love. We may look different on the outside but inside just few centimeters in the skin where ever we may be from we are all the same.
After so many years of time so many divisions have come up and so many identifications have come up, like countinent, country, region, language, religion, colour and list goes on on and on. But beyond any doubt we are the same one called Humans.
All man has his right to enjoy divinity. That God who has created all, denies none. To reach him each one has to make his own road towards him. It is like learning to ride a bicycle. One has to learn himself the other cant do it for him.
So why should one close the roads(Religions) and maps(Scriptures) and directions(Words of great men) if one has to take up his journey toward God, divinity.
If that is called fear then its funny.

Given how very easy it is to spot the flaws in the Abrahamic texts, starting from page one, they are probably quite wise!

LOL! i didn't know that. You have the right to read any book u choose to. Now don't let anyone tell u otherwise.
But better u leave them alone, for i have never seen them trying to convert others or force their beliefs on others.. (i could be wrong)

Maybe! But then you can find flaws in any religion, look how religions are interpreted by flawed mankind to push their own agendas.
Sadly, Jews, Christians and Muslims have all been guilty of this.

Because they know that Christians will begin their self-righteous judgment on page 1 and end on the last page. Why sign up for that?
