Some Christians seem to think only a true believer can understand the Bible and when atheists quote contractions and scientific fallacies in the Bible, Christians usually say "well you don't understand the interpretation or the context."

So I have to ask this, the instant that I became an atheist did I cease to understand the Bible?

Fallacies in atheism? Like what!?
Atheism is just the disbelief in god, it's not attached to bull like Noah, Moses, Jonah and Adam and Eve.
Stuff that couldn't possible happen.

When you became an atheist, you were able to place the bible in its proper context. Instead of blindly accepting it as the word of god, you can now analyze it as the work of fiction it is, and glean from it the positive parables and historical conjectures that exist therein.
In fact, being an atheist that has read the entire bible from cover to cover, I have a better knowledge of it than a significant amount of people who are christians.
Christians use the "understanding" angle in order to reinforce their faith, by undermining logic.

You are what you chose to be. Words only have power if you let them. My opnion... for thousands of years we did not have the internet, books or TV. So we sat around and told stories... to help keep the tribe in line.Overtime you would have been brainwashed into this. I rate the whole bible and Jesus thing like I do UFO's.. is it real or just someones story... for me.. I am sure there was a jesus... and something in roswell... but outside of that... its just a story...

Actually you can see behind the beliefs and superstitions of the people who created the bible, and separate facts from fiction, which is very difficult to do when you are blinded by faith.

you suddenly know how to interpret the bible correctly... not "out of context"

maybe i understood the bible correctly first before becoming an atheist.

maybe that was the reason why i became one in the first place.

no, fact is only a true believer can OVERLOOK the genocide, hate, murder, and rape that covers the bible like a puddle of blood

only a true believer can NOT see through the rose colored glasses of Jesus and see that vile tomb for what it really is.

No. If anything, you came to understand it better. Or maybe understanding it better led you to become an atheist...

Nope.
But at the same time,
you wouldnt enjoy someone citing fallacies in atheism,
its sort of like they dont want to admit someone willingly left/chose not to be part of the religion they hold dearly.

not at all, simply because you don't believe something, doesn't mean that you don't understand it.

Likewise, you can believe something without understanding it as well.
