A recruiter approached me recently and got me into his office and now i wanna join and i am serious about it and they keep pushing me to join right now. i went through the process of enlisting, sorta, they wanted me to take the ASVAB, drug test and swear in and i got them to delay a week but thats not enuf time to be clean. I afraid if i say i dont want to right now, they wont take me later. I am done with the drug for good but i just dont have the time to get clean. I could get fake pee and test negative join and be done with the drug, but idnt if they search me or make me pee while being watched. Plus not to mention thats not honorable and its not a good start to joining. I dont know what to do.

I don't understand why we keep seeing question after question regarding, "How do I get myself out of this mess." The obvious answer is don't do it in the first place then you woun't have to try and lie, cheat or fake you way into something you want.

You used drugs.

I hope the Marines keep you from joining. I wouldn't want to serve beside a drug user. My life might depend on a guy who doesn't have his head on straight, and a person who uses drugs doesn't have their head on striaght regardless if they are high this minute or not.

g-day!

There is no way to clean the stuff out of your system, I don't care who or what they say the TCP is there and will be there a long time. Not only can and do they test your pee they can take a portion of your hair and test it also. Just inform the recruiter and they or can get you one of three different waiver's, One Can come from RSS then the RS or the Depot each is a little higher up. If later on you get busted for druges they can reflect back upon this wavier. If you have done drugs once they still do pee checks in the unit, Each one has a policy they must follow and there is always someone who gets busted. So from this point forward stay off the drugs unless a Doc gives you a prescription for it, and then make sure you have a copy of that for the piss test.

Go to GNC and tell them exactly what you need, that you are taking a drug test soon. They have products that can clean you out pretty quickly.

Tell the recruiter to kiss your *** and they can wait a few weeks while you figure things out at home. It's not like you are a Marine yet. You can dictate to them when you are going to join. They will wait for you.

Above all... STOP DOING THAT! AND NEVER DO IT IF YOU ENLIST!

If you are desperate to join immediately, just be honest with the recruiter. They usually let you enlist even if you have drugs in the pee. You will just be humiliated and tested all through boot camp to make sure you have stayed clean, not like you get a chance to do anything in boot camp.

Then expect to show up on the list every single time there is a random drug test in the field.

If you can wait it out and clean it out, it will be better for you in the long run. Use the time to study up for the ASVAB. There are study guides available in the book store.

Good Luck!

Just be honest about your situation. That's part of becoming a Marine. You must follow the core value's of Honor, Courage, and Commitment. Believe me, you're not the first person to smoke pot before joining the Marines. I'm not going to judge one way or the other about the activity. I will tell you this, being a Marine is not an easy thing. It's got its ups and downs, but it's always been worth it for me. I've seen a lot of guys, who used drugs before they joined, get out of boot camp get to the fleet and find out it's tougher than they thought and need "relief" so they revert back to their old ways of doing drugs. I don't think I need to tell you that they are not the ones I want by my side in combat. Not to mention the very negative repercussions of their activities. If you plan to join make sure you're done smokin...for 4 years at least. It's not worth it to join go through all the hard work, smoke one joint and lose it all. If you are sincere I wish you all the best.

They "won't want you" if you don't go on that date. LoL, never heard that one before. There wasn't a line of kids waiting to get into the recuiting office when you went, was there? Didn't think so, just a guess but, if you go back in a few weeks, there's not gonna be a line.
Don't tell your recruiter you've smoked, I'm not sure what the regs are today, but it used to be if you answered yes to that question you were automatically banned from the military, but it could be different know.
Just tell your recruiter you can't go to meps on that date for whatever reason, and set up another date to go a few weeks out. Don't take no for an aswer, he may pressure you to go sooner rather than later, but don't take any bs from him. Remember you're not in the military yet so he can't make you do anything, and he's there to accomodate you, not the other way around.
Just wait a few weeks more before you go to meps. Chronic use of weed, takes around 3 weeks to get completly out of your system. Light use, it'll be out in a few days. Don't take anything to attempt to beat the drug test though, I know every one thinks taking goldseal, and detox drinks work, but they're anything but reliable. If you don't take them at just the right time, they'll flush all the drugs out of your system through your urine and right into the cup, then you're screwed. So its better off to stay away from detox products all together. You're best bet, just wait a few weeks.

If you're serious about joining DO NOT go to MEPs. if you fail the drug test then you'll never again qualify to be a Marine. I just went to MEPs and believe me you can not cheat on a drug test there. Tell your recruiter to wait, believe me they will not pass up a person so willing to enlist. Go running everyday and drink lots of water you should be ok in like a month, depends how much dope you smoked. Congratulations on your decision I will be going to swear in soon. Maybe I'll see you there.

Really dude, you knew you were leaving and you did it WOW, what were you thinking, grow up....ok but do the detox STOPPPPPP it NOWWWWWWW,,, lots of water and find that DETOX one at the pharmacy it's like $40 plus... also buy a drug test and after a week or water and detox take that test and if it comes out fine then you'll be fine...I wouldn't worry to much about eating, working out and stop smoking as much as the pot, because they will get you into shape real quick and your head will be spinning the first day.. if you do the detox and water than you should be fine... shhh don't tell anyone though haha.. good luck

Don't sweat it. Tell the recruiter you're not ready to enlist now, wait a month(30 days) from the time you last smoked and then go back to him. You'll be clean from a urine test(don't worry, the military doesn't do hair follicle tests) and like everyone else said, they need bodies badly over there.

Current drug testing can detect usage within 90 days or 3 months and it is impossible to fake a urine test. That's right, the test can detect a bad urine sample!!! Just tell that you can't make the commitment right now and you'll be back in a couple of months.

You could either be honest, or you can hem and haw for a month or two and then come to MEPS. (where they'll ask you if you've done MJ in the past... I think 7 months.)

Yes, they watch you pee, what did you expect? You're certainly not the first person to consider faking a pee test.
