If it isn't cut, it should last for several weeks. I imagine that it does depend on the condition of the melon to begin with. But if has no soft spots and is nice and firm, it will last a very long time-refrigerated.

Most melons keep for a couple weeks. Especially if they are still whole. If the outside starts to get soft, then it's going bad. If it just started going soft, cut it leaving a little more of the rind and eat the flesh before it all goes bad!

well, there can be many factors at play when you store fruit.
How ripe is it? the color of a fruit can tell you many things about the ripeness. Like if its pail or light in color its under ripe or if its a nice even tone the its just right and if its dark then its going down hill and fast.
How long are you plannig to have it? provided that its not cracked open it can keep for a while if its under ripe or pale.
If its cracked then it will keep for a little under a week in your fridge.
