Hello,

Its completely normal, you've nothing to worry about, My cat tootsie (pictured) Paws at her food all the time, she drags it out of the bowl and eats it from the placemat that we had to put down because of the mess she made, like the above respose has said they probably just don't like to get their whiskers dirty, its like when you have a drink of milk for example you get that milky moustache, i personally hate that so i preffer to drink from a straw so stop getting my milky moustache! so they just paw at their food to stop getting dirty whiskers!
Hope this information was useful,
Give your cat a hug from me.

No its not a cause for concern. Where do you keep your cat's food? If it is in a fridge move it out. Cats like their food at room temperature if it is too cold he will use is paw to try to warm it up before eating it.

I had a cat that did that, too. He was healthy, but just liked to eat the food off his paw. It got kinda messy so I had to put a placemat under his bowl. He would also put his paw in his water bowl, spread his toes apart and then lick the water off his paws. He didn't always do this, but he was a show cat so we were always washing his paws. He showed no preference for right or left paw, in case you wondered. It's just a peculiarity I guess.

Not at all, they do that sometimes. I think there was an ad on the TV where a cat used advertise "Whiskers" cat food....
He (Arthur) used to eat off his paws.

Well this old cat has learnt a new trick, maybe it wants attention? I dont think its cause for concern its probally something to be glad about. But it doesnt mean you cant be on the safe side. (It might not want to have its face in the food).

This could be a money spinner - some of us remember a famous cat who ate with his paw who appeared regularly in a cat food commercial on tv - I think his name was Albert or Alfred?
Oh - Arthur!

A couple of mine will do that - is he sharing the food bowl with another cat ? They don't like it when they have to get in close and touch whiskers so they'd rather stand back and use the paw.
Maybe he just doesn't like getting his whiskers covered in gravy or he wants to show off.
Nothing to worry about.

Don't worry, I used to have a cat that drank with his paw. Now that's a really weird thing to look at.
