Look, if your doctor thinks that having a Hystorectomy could save your life, rather than you die a rather painful death, why on earth wouldn't you do it?
If you have ovarian cancer, you will probably end up losing it at some stage anyway. Why not do it while it can save your life?
I don't want to make light of it but one way of looking at it is ... My dog had one and she's sitting here wagging her tail. My Mum had one and while she doesn't wag her tail much I've had some wonderful years with her that I wouldn't have had otherwise.

Your "why" questions are really unanswerable--which is probably why you are not getting responses--but I can offer you some advice,
A septated ovarian cyst on an intrasound is an indication of possible ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancers sometimes have septated cysts in them. The cysts are part of the cancer. They are not something that eventually turns into a cancer. It is not a sure thing that they are cancer; just something that should be looked into further. Fluid in the pouch of Douglas is an indication of a recently ruptured ovarian cyst. Heavy bleeding and/or spotting is suggestive that there is something wrong with the hormone levels. Some of the hormones are made in the ovaries. Vaginal bleeding is also a sign of ovarian cancer. So now you have two signs.
Ovarian cancer is almost always fatal because it is almost always diagnosed too late. So if a doctor sees a patent and sees these kinds of symptoms, he/she has to look further.
This sounds like a good doctor to me.
So if the doctor recommends that you get a biopsy, get a biopsy if you value your life. If the doctor finds cancer in the biopsy and recommends that your ovaries be removed, you will have to have your ovaries removed or you will die a painful death. You have a right to refuse a hysterectomy, but you should know the consequences if you do.

U need to ask ur doctor about the questions u have in regards to ovarian cysts and bleeding and spotting. Why u would refuse to have a hysterectomy is beyond me, its no big deal, certainly not having open heart surgery and if it`s going to save ur life u shouldn`t even think twice about it. All it`s going to do is put a stop to ur menstrual periods and u can`t get pregnant, otherwise life goes on as usual. Besides have u been actually diagnosed with ovarian cancer ? If not, ur jumping to conclusions before u need to. Calm down and get all the facts first, then decide.

Here's your choice: 1) Hysterectomy. 2) Die of ovarian cancer. Your choice.
BTW, I suspect a death from ovarian cancer is slow and painful.
Get a second opinion from another doctor, but if they both agree on the operation, you should get the operation. It doesn't matter whether or why septated ovarian cysts seem to lead to cancer, it only matters whether you want to live without your ovaries or die with them.

I lost my mother in law three years ago to ovarian cancer. It went into remission twice but reappeared three times over a five year period. She just didn't have the strength to fight it the third time. Why does the disease start the way your doctor described? Cancer research is in progress as I write. Do you want to be a survivor or a statistic? Go ahead and refuse the hysterectomy.
