how many sleeping pills would 1 have to take to kill herslf?

The problem with pills is that your body doesn't want to die and winds up expelling whatever pills you took. I once came upon a girl who slit both her wrists and drank a bottle of amonia because her parents had forbidden her to see a boyfriend. She didn't die, but suffered greatly from the experience.
My opinion, suicide is for the weak, cowardly and misinformed. There is nothing that can't be sorted out.
As for how many pills, it depends, like everyone else said some more some less. Alcohol will intensify the effect of the pills, so much that even 10-12 with 6-8oz of booze will pretty much guarantee you waking up in the hostipal covered in your own puke.
If you are persistant you might wind up not waking, but still covered in your own puke and found by some unlucky bastard who now has to deal with a corpse of some nutter that killed themself. You'd basically drown in your own vomit while sleeping.
A friend of mine tried killing herself on 2 occasions, both times were really cries for help rather than serious attempts. She slit her wrists, hopped in a tub of warm water and ate a whole bottle of aspirin one time. Other than some scars and bad memories she recovered. The second time, she slit each wrist 3 times, ate a bottle of sleeping pills, drank hydrogen peroxide.... bleh... What a mess. In both occasions she did it when people would be looking for her. Example, someone is due home at 5 and she decices to do this at 4:30.
If she was really serious she would have done it when no one was due to be around, or she would have hopped in the tub with a shop-vac or drank a pint of liquid fertilizer.
No instead she wound up in a mental hospital where she was abused and learned that her problems weren't all that bad compared to what was going on in there. She was raped and loaded up on so many drugs she didn't know where she was at most of the time and gained 175lbs in less than a year in there.
All in all she was much worse off after trying to kill herself twice, on top of that she decided that she wanted to live and had to deal with a hell of a lot more problems than what she thought were worth killing herself over before. She's now 31 and a mother of 2 and doing alright.

Depends on the pill, depends on weight, metabolism and a few other factors, as well as what is mixed with the pills. Like other's have said, you'd most likely either wake up and vomit uncontrollably or face lifelong neurological or physical handicaps. Pills are rarely ever an actuall suicide attempt and more a cry for help. If you're ever even considering it, seek psychiatric help, because in the end, you're only gonna be further depressed and reminded of your foolishness as well as hurt anyone who cares about you. More over, this question is just in severely bad taste.

None of the answers above will help you, I know because I tried them all trust me I did and i am still living, just take my advice, Be a sweetheart and take the Homeopathic remedy AURUM MET in 30C potency three times a day half an hour before meals for three days and email me if you still want to commit suicide. Please take the remedy I am telling you about just for three days please. And I am not telling you not to commit suicide just as you said, now would you please do me the favour and take the remedy please or do I have to plead with you to please please please please take the remedy. Now that is a sweet girl if I saw one :o) Okay now we are talking do you know where to buy the remedy, well you can get it from most Health and Herbs Stores in USA and EU and if you can't find it send me an email and i will help you find it. 'just wondering', somehow i doubt that. if you are, you really shouldn't be asking this, and putting 'lol'. suicide is nothing to laugh about. it's no joke, not something you can take lightly.
anyway, it would take a hell of a lot - i doubt if they would even work. overdoses are probably the most unreliable method of suicide - it is more likely you would puke them up or end up as a vegetable for the rest of your life, than die.

Pills only work like .01% of the time.
Most likely you'll just fall asleep and wake up 2 hours later throwing up like f*cking crazy.
And trust me, it HURTS.

It wouldnt be the pills that would kill 'her' it would be the choking on her vomit. Its an ugly way to go.
I know what the general answer to this is, but I'm certainly not stupid enough to tell you.
