White rice is very high on the glycemic index because it contains mostly starch. Foods high on the glycemic index raise blood sugar levels. This glucose in the blood is available to the body as quick energy. It will be burned first, before burning fat.

It is best to eat foods that are low on the glycemic index so that blood sugar levels don't spike so high. On this type of eating plan, what little glucose that's available is burned and then fat will be burned off more quickly.

Of course, eating a varied diet and not eating too much of any one food is also important.

Obesity is determined by the number of adipose tissues (fat cells) in a body. This is already determined by genetic factors during the time of birth and one cannot decrease or increase the same. However, by consuming food rich in fats these cells tend to increase in size and thereby obesity.

Rice has lot of carbohydrates and this could increase the sugar content (Diabetic condition) but not fat. Therefore scientifically seen rice is not the cause for obesity !!!!

There is much sugar in white rice. The ones on diet usually eat brown rice instead of white. And if you do not want to put on your weight do not add any kind of oil or butter, just make it fat free.

Apparently white rice has more sugar in it than other rice types, and it's a carbohydrate so you get more energy from it than other foods so if you eat too much it's bad for you, but it's not a big problem.

food items themselves do not increase the risk, the lifestyle of the person does that. rice is all natural so it is good for you, it's really how much rice is consumed as compared to the daily level of activity that can increase the risk factor for metabolic disorders.
