definetly! a session of high intensity resistance training causes a greater 24hr caloric expenditure than does session of high intensity cardio of the same duration.

the response by the endocrine system after a session of high intensity resistance training is very different and more positive than is the response after a session of high intensity cardio. however for optimum health and fitness both need to be performed on a regular basis.
