I wan't to go to basic in pretty good shape.Enough shape so I don't have to worry about being 100% physicaly stressed out so I can focus on the task at hand.Let me know if you think this is enough to get prepared for basic training in the army.Ok in my workout I do an every other day routine.one day I do 200 push ups,200 sit ups,and 100 toe touches, and usually light cardio like a mile walk or the stationairy bike something light nothing too high powered. The next day I Either do 30-60's(sprint 30 seconds jog 60) or a mile or 2 mile run I will chose which one I feel like doing that day. Then the next day i just rotate.Like i'll do push ups and situps and that type of thing one day then run the next.Do you think this is enough??.Any tips you can give me to work on getting in better shape before I go Like what will the p.t. be like when I get in the Army? how many miles a day etc...And should I be doing push ups and sit ups everyday? will i be doing them everday in basic?.

I think with that work out you will be set for basic training, the only thing I would recomend is trying to work in some longer runs 3-5 miles. And yes you will work out at least 6 days a week in basic.

As for a basic training tip from someone who as been there, just remember its all head games. Don't let them get to you and you will be ok. They really can't do anything that bad to you.

Ok first of all they are not going to kill you.

Yes you are doing your 200 pushups and such on alternate days giving specific muscles rest time. But at those amounts one day or so is really not enough rest time. I would consider doing a mix........ maybe less pushups and some situps on a day. That is closer to what you will be doing and it will help strengthen your back. Consider some squats and such as well.

The way you are handling your runnng is excellent. But you might want to do some stretches that day. Think flexibility and the obstacle course and such.

If you start bulking up with weights you will lose some of that flexibility. Stamina and cardio are all around more key than raw strength.

You sound like you are expecting grueling days of torture. You are doing more now then you would ever be doing in basic training. Expect early morning exercises and some classroom activity along with a lot of marching. Exercises include pushups, squat thrusts, running, crawling on your belly, and a lot of marching. These are geared to enhance your survival in combat situations mainly. Officers training is more rigorous of you want to persue that. It is more of the above mentioned activities just more advanced. Well any way you attitude is good and it sounds like you will be sucessful in your endeavors.

You'll be fine.

The biggest tip I can give you is this.

When you get there, run with the group, keep pace with the group, do push-ups with the group. Stay at their pace. If you go in there and do 200 push-ups, you will be doing 400. Set the bar as low as you can in the beginning and you can show improvement. The want to see improvement during basic. If you come in and blow everyone away, you will pay for it severly. Just stay with the group, don't show off.

If you can do 200 push ups without taking breaks, I doubt that you'll need to lift weights to help. You should be good. Just keep in mind that you might need be worked on all of these exercises daily and if someone messes up that you could be doing more of any.

I dunno about basic training for the Army, but I'll tell ya what I had to prepare for in USMC bootcamp...
the initial strength test consisted of the following:
A - 1.5 mile run in less than 13 minutes
B - 50 crunches in 2 minutes
C - 15 pull-ups

toward the end of bootcamp, the test consisted of this:
A - 3 mile run (18min or less for perfect score)
B - 100 crunches in 2 minutes
C - 20 pull-up for perfect score

Army basic may be different, but i GUARANTEE you'll be doing quite a bit of running and push-ups.

run five times a week, push ups, sit ups every day.. try to do pull ups.. a good amount (pull ups are an essential) sprints on off days-- get good protein every day but so far your looking great.. my one and only major criticism is you should go marines man!
From what it sounds like.. 200 push ups.. you seem motivated to get in there.. you wanna be surrounded by like minded individuals.. marines is the place 2 go

+15 month army deployments suck hard ***

What's a toe touch? I've been in for almost five years and never heard of it. If you insist on walking, do so with 40 lbs strapped to your back. That's the only way you'll walk anywhere at basic, for PT, anyway.

get to the point where you pass the PT test. Most people won't do that. For your push-ups, have your recruiter watch you do them, and tell you if they will count them at basic. Tell him not to BS you, and that you want to know how they will grade them, worst case scenario, not how they should grade them.

Basic is one of a kind than excercizing or physical games. Mainly since of sleep deprivation. I not ever noticed any rape. That's to not say you should not be worried, however it's not that one of a kind than the truly global. It is a well factor to worry demise. It maintains you alert. I have misdiagnosed clinical issues myself. Any agreements you are making earlier than you signal up will imply not anything when you exhibit up for processing. I've not ever noticeable any issues with lesbians. Fibromyalgia could gift a obstacle.

You need to test yourself!
get someone to help you with a stopwatch:
Do as many push - ups(correct form), & sit -ups(correct form) as you can in 2 minutes.

Run 2 miles ( standard oval track-8 laps)

APFT (entry level) minimum standards : 50 PU -2 minutes
50 SU - 2 minutes
2 Mile run - 18-20 minutes

If you can meet those standards, then you are ready to go to basic training!

Get your recruiter to help you with PT!
