Schizophrenia is a very serious and debilitating mental disorder; there are many types of it. For a good overall summary just type in "schizophrenia" into Yahoo! web search and out of the many links that come up go to the Wikipedia web site. I am a schizophrenic paranoid. I have 4 grown children and three grandchildren. I have never "snapped." If you are not afraid of a personal account of the disorder go to my profile and look over some of my questions and answers. Or just e-mail me via Yahoo! answers and I will try to answer any questions you may have.
Good luck, good mental health, peace and love!

I'm sorry I don't know much about it but my dad has it, it is like a personality disorder and a lot of people with this are really paranoid about certain things and see things that aren't real. And yes some of them do snap. I don't think there are different kinds, but the symptoms and seriousness of the illness do vary from person to person. Yes they can have kids but your kids will have more of a chance of developing it in their life because of genetics (I also have more of a chance). But there are plenty of treatment options. I would look on WebMD.com for more information if you need it and maybe talking to your doctor can help. I hope this helps and I hope everything works out 4 you! =)

Primarily three kinds: paranoid schizophrenia, catatonic, and hebephrenic. They updated them to more than three kinds to include hybrids, or rather types that are crosses between two. Where it is a bit of two kinds.
Catatonic means they just sit and stare. Hebephrenic is childishness. Childish thoughts and behaviors far below their age like a tottler.
Yes, they are not sterile and can reproduce to have children. They can have quite a temper actually but are no more or less prone to violence than a person without a mental illness is.

See schizophrenia, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris on page 40. They can have children, but should maintain their medication, to be a good parent.
