See your gyno and have him/her suggest something a little stronger. I really sympathise with you. I used to roll around on the bed for 21/2 hours. A hot water bottle or heating pad helps. Also a hot bath. I've heard that rubbing that "Head on" on your pain area helps. Good luck, hon. :)

I found some information in the internet for you:
Lots of girls experience cramps before or during their periods. Cramps are caused by prostaglandins (pross-tuh-glan-dunz), chemicals a girl's body produces to make the muscles of the uterus contract. The contracting muscles help push the blood out through a girl's vagina during her period. It may seem weird that cramping would be genetic, but it appears to be true. If other girls and women in your family are crampers, you might be a cramper, too. You might want to ask a female relative - like your older sister, cousin, mom, aunt, or grandmother - if she had cramps with her periods. You'll still be cramping but at least you'll know you're not alone! And the good news is that cramps often get better the older you get. Walking helps to prevent or at least reduce the severity of menstrual cramps for some girls. It works for me. Zinc, calcium, and B vitamins obtained in food and supplements have been found to reduce cramps, bloating and other symptoms. Herbal remedies such as Viburnum prunifolium, Scutellaria spp., and Cimicifuga raemosa have an antispasmodic effect that may reduce some menstrual cramps. A warm bath filled with aromatherapy or a heating pad on your lower abdomen and back is often helpful for relieving menstrual cramping. I hope you get better!

I used to get the worst period cramps and the only thing that helped me was Rx Anaprox (Aleve OTC now) with hot Raspberry tea every 4 hours. But you HAVE to take Aleve with food. If you don't it will burn your stomach as you've found out. Ibuprofen must be taken with food too for the same reason. The key is pain management. You have to take the medicine as often as it is recommended. The rest of the month I took Primrose oil, (looks like a Vitamin E pearl), 2 of them, 3 times a day without fail, to equalize the hormone levels. It really helped to alleviate the overall monthly period pain. I hope you feel better!

Truly Ibuprofen is the drug of choice for period cramps. It's a prostaglandin inhibitor which works good for cramps associated with periods. If you can't take that then call or go see your OB/GYN MD this week. Seems that you can't take anything but narcotics and that is a BAD thing to start for monthy period pain.

Yes, I have problems with cramping and it's because of having endometriosis.

I would recommend seeing your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see if endometriosis might be one possibility as far as a cause. As for the pill, if you find that you need to go on it there is a kind that can be helpful to those who have migraines. It's called Mircette.

In the mean time trying a heating pad could be helpful.

To learn more about endometriosis please check out: http://www.endocenter.org

Also, as far as medications ask your doctor about the possibility of something like an anti-inflammatory medication called Ponstel that can be helpful to some who have problems with menstrual cramping.

If you have other questions for me please feel free to e-mail or IM me off site any time.

Start taking vitamin E, it works wonders. it thins the blood allowing for easier discharge, & fewer cramps.

til it is in your system good, try some extra strength tylenol. i take 2 & like an hr later, take anothr.

your dr. can also prescribe a pain reliever,w/out the n-saids. that you may can tolerate.

but get ON the vitamin E. about 800 mgs. a day.

I by far have the worst cramps ever but unlike you midol works wonders with me, but what i suggest you using is the heat therapy. You can place it on your underwear and it helps the cramps get better.

Start taking Advil several days BEFORE your period. The Advil will build up in your system and prevent the cramps from becoming severe.

Have you ever tried Aleve (naproxen sodium)? It works very well for cramps, but there's a possibility it could upset your stomach, too.

My husband can't take ibuprofen, but he can tolerate Aleve.
