like i start to sing and he jumps and tries to lick me

My guess is that you have a high pitch voice. The dog is
mistaking it for whining. A sound they make when they are
sad or want something. He is trying to cheer you up. He is
saddened by your sound and wants you to feel better.
Sometimes a high pitch sound will hurt there sensitive ears
and they will respond like that or by whining also.

He might think your hurting and is trying to console you. Not saying your singing sounds like screeching,lol. Seriously, a lot of dogs do that though =).
