I am following a diet a doctor gave me(just balance nutrition) and working out at the gym(taking classes, use equiptment too). Would losing 10 lbs per month be healthy? that'd mean I'd lose 70 lbs in 7 months. I do seem to lose 2-3 lbs when I lose weight the right way.
2lbs x 4 weeks = 8 lbs, 3lbs x 4 week= 12, so 10 is in the middle.

About two pounds a week is the maximum. Also, if you're using gym equipment like weights, you may put on some muscle. A better goal might be to drop about seven dress sizes, because that will tell you that you are firming up, which is a combination of diet and exercise, but isn't reliant on the numbers on the scale.
