I like iTunes, but for some reason, when I burn an CD with it, the CD doesn't sound as clear as the audio file can get, and I can't set a quality preference for the Burning options, only playback, so is there a software that will let me customize the songs when they burn to the CD, and not the playback, plus, if it can, I want it to be free.

You can try one of many free ones. These are not in any particular order either.

Roxio's Easy CD/DVD Creator.
Nero Burning Rom/Nero Express
Alcohol 120%
Windows Media Player
MusicMatch Jukebox.

I don't see why you couldn't use media player or roxio. I know that media player allows you to choose what type of quality you want the recording to be at, as well as the speed of the action. I've only used roxio once, so I can't tell you much about that program, sorry.
