If you are going to keep that escort for any length of time, I recommend getting a "Haynes" Service Manual. I replaced a brake light switch in a Ram 1500, and it was a little odd..if I hadn't had the service manual, I don't think it would have ever been right..you might find one at your local public library...but get one..make sure it's "Haynes"
good luck

They are typically mounted to a stationary metal bracket next to the brake pedal.
They usually have a single wire with a plug on the end of it. When you remove the old switch you will install the new one in the reverse. Easy repair.
Good Luck!

it mounts on the back of the brake pedal arm,if you,ll look in under it once you have the new switch ,you,ll see how it mounts up in there, its not hard to do make sure you have a light so you can see it good, there's a pin that goes through it once that is removed it comes off, then install it back like the old one was,and hook the wires back up on it,and your done, good luck with it.
