I live in North America, California, Contra Costa County, city of Antioch. Also known as the Bay Area. As of January 1 2007 the minimum wage is $7.50 and as of January 1 2008 it will be $8.00. The Bay Area, has the highest cost of living in America. You cannot be paying your own rent, and pay for school at the same time on these wages. It is impossible. And the state wants to know why so may young people just give up.

Australia pays people a decent minimum wage, the unions sorted that out years ago. Unfortunately, third world countries like the USA pay their people a pittance and they have to rely on tips.
