It depends on your personality, life style and why you want a dog. It's best to research different breeds and find what is best for you and your family. You have to be 110% commited and willing to train and be with the dog.

There's no breed or mix that is right for every potential owner or for every situation. You have to be honest about your lifestyle and why you want the dog (to show? to be your best friend? to scare the daylights outta the landlord? to carry around in your purse? ok, that last one was a joke, but ... !)

Everyone here could name their favorite breed, and give you 10 reasons why you should get one. I could name MY favorite breed and list 10 reasons why you should NOT get one.

You have to research the breeds to see which ones will fit your lifestyle and situation. Please don't base your decision on looks. There's WAYYY more to a dog than a pretty face! You can start with akc.org for breed profiles, and follow links from there to breed clubs for any or all that interest you.

If you take the time to research and ask questions, you'll likely end up with the right dog for you. Good Luck!

i agree with getting one from a shelter, but if you want a biast opinion :) i ve got a standard poodle, and i have never met a dog like him in my life, i have owned a few dogs in my time, but he just has this crazy personality, hes like a human...a lot of other poodle owners say this too ( not the mini or teacup just standards) i know everyone can say that thier dog is unique and spechial so go with one that you feel suits you but also be ready to deal with the lovely puppy period, not the cute clumsy one, the poop and pee on the floor cry in the kenal dont listen time, be ready to train him, and groom him, excersize him, do you have a large enough back yard to do this in, can you give him excellent medical attention, from an ear infection to getting fixed to bigger unseen problem in the future that may be costly, do you pr will you have kids in the future, do you or any loved ones have allergies? will he get good quality food or cheat stuff? will you get him toys and treats and have time to play with him? do you want a big dog to play rough with or a little lap dog?man there are so many things to think about...check out an online dog encyclopidia that might also help you narrow it down. good luck

It depends on the person's lifestyle, needs and wants.
For me Pomeranian and Pom crosses are best because I like affectionate dogs and am home a lot, use to be bigger dogs were best for me like shepherds and labs because I was outside a lot and at another point in my life spaniels were best because I needed a dog that could and would want to keep up with me---walking, jogging, cycling ect. Over all I think crossbreeds prove the best for most families looking for just a pet because you get the best of two worlds. Like right now I went with pom/chi so that I get the best of two breeds.

The best kind of dog to get, is the one you fall in love with at first sight. I've always had dogs who have smiling eyes. Just look around and you'll see one that you fall in love with. That's the best dog for you.

I love Shih Tzu dogs. I never knew Shih Tzu dogs before my sister had one. They are so adorable and cute. Now, my family has three Shih Tzu dogs. One boy, 7 years old, two girls, 6 years old and 4 years old.

My point is, the best kind of dog is the one who makes me and my family happy.

Go and save a dog from the RSPCA or pound. You can get pups of all breeds and the satisfaction of knowing you saved an animal is a fantastic feeling!

I agree one from a shelter, you can look them over and pick one (rather one will pick you) to become your best friend. The workers will help you choose one that fits your lifestyle.
You would be saving a life and the dogs seem to always know. good luck
