What kind of training is required to become an archeologist? Do you need a college degree? Also, what kind of income do they make? Thanks.

Archeology is a subfield of Anthropology. For some professional jobs a master's degree is sufficient but most research jobs will require a doctorate (PhD in Archeology).

Technicians can enter the profession with an associates or bachelor's degree and a major in archaeologist isn't always required. Field experience is the primary consideration when hiring technicians.

Archaeologists and archeology technicians go to 'field schools' in the summers (and sometimes year-round) where they work on a real project. These are usually not paid experiences like a job but more like an internship. A list of field schools is at ShovelBums web - http://www.shovelbums.org/component/option,com_sobi2/Itemid,880/

Earnings average $43,800 per year. Those who teach in colleges earn more.

Your best bet is to talk with a school advisor/counselor, they'll give you a list of classes you'll need, plus a few you may want to take on the side.
As for income, you can try checking out salary.com, they may have it, or ask a teacher in an archeology dept.

Great career choice, although I don’t know the answers to your question, but I find history fascinating. Especially the Hellenic period. Good Luck
