Parvo will keep him sick for about 14 days. He will seem to get better, (playful/not vomiting) then he will seem worse. That's normal.

Go to the baby aisle of the grocery store and get Pedialyte, meat baby food (lamb and turkey is best) and a medicine shooter. The kind that looks like a syringe.

Mix the baby food in with the Pedialyte until it's liquid. Use the medicine shooter to put the mixture in the back of his mouth on the OUTSIDE of his teeth. Go slow, you can drown him by mistake.

Dehydration kills.
You need to get as much of the mixture into him as possible. You can't give him too much. Consider giving him doses a few times around the clock. Normally, I would say it's not necessary, but because you have such a little dog, and he is VERY sick, you should get up and do it about every 3 hours around the clock.

I can't stress enough that you need to get all the fluids (water and Pedialyte) into him as you can. He will die quickly unless you "force feed" him.

He will puke it up, he will produce his weight in diarrhea. KEEP GIVING IT TO HIM!!!

Antibiotics aren't strictly necessary at this point. They won't kill the Parvo, they just prevent other sicknesses while the pup is so sick. Keep him indoors, warm and as quiet as you can. He needs rest.

Parvo is contagious. You know that, but for the next year, (yes, YEAR) all dogs and puppies that come to your house have to be vaccinated. Parvo lives a long time in the environment. Clean vomit and diarrhea with diluted bleach.

When he's well, vaccinate him. There are other "puppy killers" out there, and you want to protect him.

The older the puppy the better his possibilities of surviving, maximum vets will inform you that with IV fluids and a stay on the vets workplace the puppy usually has a pair of fifty/50 risk of survival. the main important factor that kills puppies that contract the parvo virus is weak spot and dehydration, in specific circumstances if a individual won't be able to manage to pay for to pass away their puppy on the vets workplace they are able to grant them unflavored pedialyte with a syringe the two orally or as an enema. great care could be taken while doing this, you're able to do greater harm than solid with an enema. severe vomiting and diarrhea can right this moment bring about dehydration, then renal failure and dying. I nursed a cockerspaniel puppy with parvo as quickly as years in the past utilising gatorade,(that become in the previous we had pedialyte) he recovered yet by no skill reached his finished means. in the event that they used an expired vaccine he would besides no longer have been vaccinated in any respect, the parvo vaccine is a stay virus which could be saved at a definite temperature for a definite era or the stay subculture will die rendering the vaccine ineffective. be valuable you shop him hydrated and heat and clean any an infection (no longer the puppy) with a answer of a million section bleach to 9 areas water to kill the virus, he will recuperate or no longer interior of approximately 2 weeks. additionally he will nonetheless be contagious for one greater 2 weeks so be valuable and shop him removed from different puppies for no less than some weeks. The virus can stay for as much as two weeks exterior the hosts physique if bleach isn't used to kill it. solid success

if you can't keep the puppy at the vet, ask if the vet will let you give fluids at home sub-q (under his skin) - it's very easy to learn (it does not hurt them although they look like the hunchback for a while), takes little skill beyond being able to push a needle into his skin (you don't need any previous skills with medical stuff and once again, it does not hurt them), and it may help keep him hydrated, which is about the best thing you can do for him at this stage. if you're not comfortable with the idea, see if the vet will give him sub-q fluids & send him home with you.

parvo is a very difficult disease for a puppy to make it through, even with all the care that money can buy, so good luck and god bless. he is lucky to have someone who loves him so much.

What Bonsylar said. Also, you can give the pup a teaspoon of Pepto Bismol every 6 hours or so,and give him ice cubes to lick.If he doesn't seem better in 24 hours,or gets worse, the I would call the vet again.
