Don't give him anything until you get him in to see his veterinarian ASAP. Although aspirin, acetaminophen (Tylenol) and ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, etc) can be given to dogs, the dosing must be overseen by a veterinarian as these drugs, particularly the last two, can be toxic if overdosed. There are several medications developed specifically for dogs that are much safer. Please visit your vet soon to find the cause of these swollen joints.
Note: do not EVER give acetaminophen to cats...it is DEADLY!

Yes aspirin is OK, see the attached link for dosage. I would only give the aspirin for a short term, as it can upset stomach even cause bleeding ulcers. For long term if this arthritis try Glaucasamine/chodrodine(spelling) it helps to build joints and relieve arthritis aches, they sell it at pet shops in a chewable tablet or you could get the human version, though I'm not sure what the dosage would be, maybe consult your vet. They also have this ingredient in some of the dog treats now.

Usually if they don't have obvious heats then they are either having silent heats or have a health issue going on that is causing the dog to not come into season. But if she has silent heats yes she can get pregnant . If she has an underlying health issue causing her to not come into season that could be a serious health concern. Either way it would probably be best to talk to your vet . Since she is older spaying probably is the best answer. Or who knows maybe some relative already snuck her off the vet unbeknownst to the owners and got her spayed some time back.

While asprin is usually considered safe for many dogs it isn't for all.Do NOT give it without consulting YOUR vet to determine if it right for your dog and to get the proper dosage.

NEVER, EVER give a dog Advil, Aleve, Tylenol or any meds that contain their ingredients..they are very toxic!!

It is against the law for anyone, including a licensed vet/tech to give prescribe medication or give you dosage info on the net unless they know your dogs complete medical history and/or have done a hands on exam within the last 3-6 months.

Yes, baby aspirin only though. No adult aspirin. My brother's dog was put on one pill a day for his arthritis by the vet but he's a small dog (min daschund/chihuahua mix) so you might want to phone the vet to see what the recommended dosage would be for a larger dog.

I'm not sure about that, there are a lot of pills that are REALLY bad for dogs, many human pills can kill dogs. Ask your vet before giving the dog anything! I know that my dog had Tylenol before & was ok but she was not a border collie.

My vet actually prescriped children's aspririn to my dog when he was having some hip problems. You should call your vet to ask about dosage since the weight and breed of your dog does matter.

But, yes, it is okay. A lot of vets prescripe children's aspirin as well as children's benadryl for dogs. Just ask one about dosage.

Hope that helps.

better to ask your vet, although in general 81mg of aspirin is fine for a dog to take once a day short term. problem is that it can tear up their stomach and cause bleeding issues, so you should go to your vet for better meds that will work just as well but with fewer harmful side effects. ask about glucosamine/chondroitin supplements for him too. my vet swears by it.

I would suggest anti inflamitory medication- any vet will give him the proper meds needed to shrink the swelling. Your dog may also experience some arthritis along with it which is why it is best to stick with anti inflamitory medication, it is safer and is more effective.
