Ok so I just got my ears pierced like 4 weeks ago and now my ears aren't swollen and don't hurt anymore so I am thinking of just going to a 14 gauge taper that I got from Hot Topic. How should I go about doing this and this may be a stupid question but how exactly do I put the taper in, like pointy end through the front or back? Also can I use the taper for just regular jewelry later on if I wanted to, cuz for some reason I heard someone say that they should only be used for stretching.

Geez, to all the people who are complaining because I am "ruining my life" do you even know how big a 14 gauge is? Did you know that the smaller the number the larger the hole? So if a standard size hole is an 18 then think of how big a 14 would be considering sizes can go up to 00 and on to fractions of an inch. So please do your research before you tell me that I am making a mistake

haha, don't listen to the ones saying you're making a mistake, it's your life, you do what you want. I'm at a 0g now but while i was at a 4g my ears still closed and looked pretty normal after i took my tunnels out. I used to massage my ear w/ hot water, then soap a q-tip with antibacterial soap (and water) and put it on the taper as well as my ear....then just push it through slowly so that you don't hurt yourself. If it resisted too much, which it did when i got to bigger sizes, i just stopped and tried again the next day, with in 2 days or so you'll have the next size in and won't have swollen hurting ears. The idea is to take it slow and gauge down from size to size. Wait about a month between each down sizing for proper healing so you won't get complications or scaring. As for wearing the taper as jewelry, i used to until i got to a 4g, then it was just a nuisance b/c it was quite heavy. The only problem is that most tapers are acryllic and that's not that good for your ears. Also, i found my ears healed faster when i replaced the taper w/ an actual plug b/c the taper kept getting stuck in my hair and clothes. Hope this helps you in the future :) oh yah, since you already stretched, i'm sure you found out that you start from the front with the pointiest part of the taper

You did exactly what my son did, and now his ears are really gauged huge,. Don't listen to what others say about them never returning to normal without surgery, I know for a fact that once you take the guages out, they will eventually shrink back up again. It takes time but they do close. I thing they look awesome. Believe it or not my son used to put magic marker caps in his piercings until he got the right plugs, he needed really large ones. You will probably have better luck finding the plugs you need online then the in the stores, they have alot more variety and are cheaper.

not yet. wait until it's fully healed. just make sure that you WANT to stretch it. it'll never return to it's normal size without surgery.

sorry dont understand this fad. do you know what its gonna look like when you are older. or how hard it will be to get taken seriously when you look for work. just taking them out at that point isnt going to help is it.
