For the record - I am a Jr fan - so with that said, I think because Gordon is from a different region of the country, his nature is going to be different from the good ol' boys of the south. Jr is uncomfortable around crowds and he's not as refined as Gordon. Because we are used to seeing the Earnhardts and Pettys, Gordon seems over confident and almost arrogant. Gordon has struggled just as much as everyone else, just in a different way. I admire Jr for overcoming his "fear" of crowds and for his struggles but he's just like everybody else.

Gordon has been the pretty boy for the last 13 years now. However I don't understand why everyone loves Jr. He's done squat. Just because his dad was great and died in his car doesn't mean Jr. deserves all this admiration. Now they're teamates. The fans should be mad that he chose to go with Gordon. Earnhardt needs to earn my respect.

Personally I am a gordon fan. I think it's amazing what he has done at such a young age. He was only 24 when he won his first Winston Cup.Now he has won 4 and he's only 36. Not many drivers are in the same league as he is. I like to see him smile, but it's not like it's glued on there. He get's upset when he doesn't do well. I like Jr. too, but will always root for Gordon.

I'm not a Gordon fan but I've watched him since he came into Cup and believe me, he earned everything he has. Gordon has worked very hard and is a very good driver. Earnhardt still needs to prove something to me.

well of course you don't like Gordon you're a Jr. fan that's a pretty stupid thing to say! are you jealous? what am I asking? you're a Jr. fan! you know sweetheart when your good your good! If Gordon sucked he wouldn't be the poster boy as you call him! He is and always be one of the BEST drivers ever check out his stats, he has 4 championship and past Earnhardt Sr.'s winnings record, and just had his 500th start, so like I said honey when you're good you're good he has earned everything that fell in his lap!

Fallen into his lap? Jeff had to earn his way to where his is now. It wasn't handed to him. His personal life is his and his alone. No fan has the right to say they approve or disapprove of any driver's life (and I heard a different story about that). Would they stand up to the scrutiny of millions of people in their face? I doubt it.
As for Earnhardt everyone expects because his father was a great racer that he automatically will be too. He is still young and that may happen, it remains to be seen.
If you watch any of the coverage, there are quite a few drivers that do not look comfortable in front of the camera. That does not make a driver or not.
Watch the race, they are ALL out there trying to win, not sitting back on their laurels waiting for it to fall into their lap.

I can't speak for him, but there are people who are just comfortable in front of a crowd. I'm one of those people. I have no fear of public speaking and have spoken in front of some pretty sizable crowds.
Those same people are usually smilers, and seem to be pretty happy in general.
Remember though, just because they are smilin' doesn't mean life is all rosy, they don't show it in public.

For those who say Jeff got what he got because of his Daddy, do you really think Dale Jr would be where he is if it weren't for his Daddy?
Money may have gotten him there, but it's his talent that keeps him there.
I am not a big Jeff Gordon fan, but perhaps you need to be fair.

Everyone has their opinion. I'm not a fan of either, but I like my drivers because they can drive and win. Bottom line is Gordon gets it done and Jr does not. Also Gordon doesn't cause any drama. With Jr everything is a soap opera. I mean I understand he has some problems with his step mother, but that boils down to winning, had he been winning he would of had more to bargain with while negotiating. He's uncomfortable around crowds because all his interviews lately are as to why he is doing poorly and he does not want to talk about it. Well that's the way I see it with no dis respect intended.

Just because he's always happy doesnt mean anything. You are blaming someone for being happy all the time, which he isnt. He was extremely disappointed that he lost last weeks race after totally dominating it and he ended up finishing 4th. He lost the series points lead, you could see the emotion in his eyes and in his face. That was not a happy expression or moment in time.

Those are my two favorite drivers! I love Dale because he's so down to earth and takes nothing for granted, nothing was handed to him regardless of who his father was. And Jeff is what we call, "Blessed" I love his clean cut image, he has what he has because of his faith and his determination and his gift as a driver.
Should we hate Michael Jordan because of all his fame and fortune, how about Payton Manning, and since you brought him up what about Walt Disney? All these men have what they have because they have worked hard to achieve it! And in my opinion there is nothing wrong with that.
