She is 8 years old and has always loved being outside and especially when we are out there. Now I have to put her on a leash and walk her down the street to even get her to pee. If I take her out in our backyard her tail is between her legs and she stays right up against me. If I take her down the driveway and walk out the street she will "pee" right away. She has recently been diagnosed with whipworms, and is being treated, but that shouldn't ahve anything to do with this problem.

I agree - it sounds like something in the back yard scared her. Try hanging out in the backyard yourself and leaving the door open. Will she eventually come out on her own if you are out there? If so, give her a treat and some praise. Play with her and/or give her some positive attention for a few minutes and then take her back in. Do this as often as you can. In the meantime, keep walking her out front...

she may have had a bad incident recently when outside
such as neighborhood kids teasing her, bugs biting her , strange animals, loud noises etc
she may also just want to be with you if she isnt feeling well.
take her outside and give her lots of attention, stay with her for awhile to tell her that you arent going to leave her. reward her is she is her usual self.

maybe something "traumatizing" happened when she was outside recently, such that now she is frightened to be out there.

my dog was outside when it was windy once, and a piece of drainpipe flew off the house and almost hit him. now he wont go out if it is extremely windy (otherwise he is fine)
